rattle in front end

I've got a bad rattle in my front end. Doounds like rocks in my hubcaps but it's not. Both sides are doing it. It also pops when in 4x4. Is this the CV's joints/shafts going out?? I can't figure it to be anything else.
I've replaced the bearing,tie-rods,and ends,ball joints,ect so it's none of the above. Any thoughts?

Is there any play in the CV's if you reach in and try to move them?

I can slide them in and out and the make a funny noise when I do that but they aren't loose feeling.
