rad cleaning

I bought my 4" Diamond eye exhaust from treasure valley diesel for 299. Shipping was 50.

I had to pay UPS 65 bucks at the door for "brokerage" and taxes.

That's about 415 all in.

I was quoted 500-600 bucks from Mike at Harbour City Diesel for a locally made 3" system without a "performance" muffler. All aluminized steel, no stainless.

He said if you can buy a 4" for less than that then he couldn't touch it.

How much did you pay for yours?

I paid about 269.00 for the DE out of a place in Seattle WA I'm pretty sure brokerage and taxes cost me another 90.00. The system showed up w/o a muffler that was supposed to be included ended up with a straight muffler delete pipe.

The Rock Auto site says they ship FedEx to Canada and they have the AC delco pump model from the Heath kit. The guy at Lordco says his car-done part x-references to the number but it is the same quality will it perform as well I mean the difference in price is about 40.00 Lordco can get me the AC Delco part from Vancouver in a day. I should order it and go in and look at both of them and then choose. I don't want to risk my engine on some cheaply built part especially where cooling is involved.

I think I would spend the extra 40 bucks for the ac delco part.

Did he guy on the desk give you a discounted price?

The Lordco here in Comox gives me pretty deep discounts on my parts.

Never hurts to ask if that's the " best" price....

Rock Auto has the pump Heath recommended in his writeup from MaxxTorque AC Delco 88894035 260.76 and reverse rotation severe duty fan clutch for 147.00.

I got my 2000 year model pump at Car Quest for $171.

I previously tried a Hayden Severe Duty clutch with my stock pump, unsuccessfully. The Hayden would not come on, even when coolant temps got up to over 215* F. I tried the clutch spring mod, unsuccessfully. The Hayden went back! If you don't do any towing you may get by with the severe duty clutch from Rockauto. I needed a reliable clutch so I ended up going to Heath and getting their fan clutch for $199.

You bet I use my DND card it gives me between 15-35% depending on the items I usually buy most of my parts from them because they are local service is good and if there are any problems I can send it right back. No questions asked.

Get the heck out!

I'm DND too.

Airforce though, I'm betting you're navy being down there by esquimalt.

Guess that would make me a "zoomie"....

;)

Yep I work on those recycled submarines as an electrician.

Anyway I got my A pillar gauges in today I flashed it up I have power to the gauges all lit up nice the only sensor I have hooked up at the moment is the EGT thermocouple but it reads hard over 1500 deg so I measured reisistance at the connector plug and where it is connected to the sensor I get about 2M ohm across the pair now this is a thermocouple so 2 meg is way too high I guess I received a bad sensor however I am in a hurry I need to go over the continuity of the wiring I may left something open which is more likely. Where is the inspection plug on the tranny that's where I'm thinking of putting that sensor. I think I might order a boost bolt from pmdcable too and try that out.

IIRC, the plug is on the drivers side, up by the wiring. You can't see it, you have to feel for it.

Well first impression is the truck runs about 10 degrees cooler than before and when I step on it the needle climbs but holds at about 95 I think I will modify this truck in stages just to see how it reacts.

This is where the gauges come in, so tomorrow I want to put the sensors in now that I have the wiring all sorted out. The glow-shift gauges I bought were relatively cheap compared to some others but of course my thermocouple seems to be defective. I brought the truck to work where I have meters that read sensors sure enough the damn pyrometer is open good news I sent signal to the gauge and it works. Unfortunately my procrastination to put this in sooner means I can't return the duff pyrometer. Ah the internet good deals but lousy return policy.

Thanks if this is the case I will just drop the pan and put the fitting in there I hate trying to spend half a day just locating the damn bolt and the other half swearing while I remove it.

I have to take back my previous statement about glowshift there gauge was not the problem but when I put the 4" exhaust on I guess I must have not been careful enough putting the inner wheel fender back on looks like I snapped it in two. Not the result I was hoping for. I have the boost bolt coming from pmdcable so that's one less hole to drill for now. Looking forward to seeing the gauges operate.

I found prices here to be pretty good www . autopartstomorrow . com and I have stuff sent to http://www.hagensofblaine.com/receive-with-us.php they charge me 2.50 per parcel and have yet to pay duty on anything I have brought back. I just try and keep prices low. if you want stuff sent there pm me for what I'll charge to pick it up and forward it on to you. I also have a buddy in DND but he drives one of those shiny cars with red and blue lights.
