I'm putting my engine back together and I cant remember which way the push tubes go. they have a mark on one end, and one end is a slight copper color (I remember that having some importance, but it does not go with the end that has the mark on all of them)

How are they supposed to go
Thanks

This is one where the copper colorong is oposet the mark

X2 the copper is the hardened end for the rocker wear area. It's critical they go in properly or they will wear through the rocker arm in no time. Some do not have the coloring any you must use a box and push the pushrods through holes in the box to keep track of their orientation during tear down. Best if they are installed in the same positions.

right i did that but the coloring is wore off the original ones and also had a couple that where bent. had alot of water in this engine, cracked heads thats in a different thread from like 8months ago, so im using a different set that i lost track of but i can see the copper color on them. just odd that the coloring isnt on the same end in relation to the mark.

There is a paint mark and copper coloring indicating rocker end. IMO the dimple is worthless. If you can't see the paint mark and/or copper coloring around the spit hole use a different "known" pushrod.
