provent

I know I'm starting up an old thread but I've been doing some more looking around and was wondering if some of the other seperators I've been looking at will do the job but for less $. Here's one I'm looking at

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Stee...temZ330383835789QQptZLHQ5fDefaultDomainQ5f100
The seperator filter looks awfully small compared to the one in my provent.
Another "if" is that a gasser has lots of vac at the intake whereas the 6.5 dont, even with the turbo pulling on it .Only way to find out is to try it this gadget.
The price is right though.

To be honest,i'm starting to get mixed feelings about it.

It does a good job of seperating the oil out as the intake is still dry as bone after running 7 K on the engine.
Buuuut.... the dipstick starts steaming at a prolonged idle and now the rear seal is starting to weep too, that makes me think at idle that thing does dick all.( i need to do a dipstick tube test yet)
The provent was claimed to do a good job on diesels from 100 to 300 HP,but was not tried on automotive diesels,so i went guiney pig.

What is worse,is that no matter how many emails i send to the factory or phone conversations with vendors to give me some answers.Nobody has ever gotten back to me.IMO,That says it all, they either dont know shit or they cant be bothered with it.

So, there you have it.

Don't hold back now......Let us know how you really feel. ):h :D ):h

How many miles on your engine? Do you think it affects the vacuum flow at idle?
7000 km,give or take.
i dont know whats causing it,i suspect the longer tubes to and from the provent and the restriction in the filter element may have some bearing on it.
It does it only if it idles for 10 min or more.

I remember.....It was even endorsed by gmctd, he put one on his sons jeep, "I think"....As was the old style CDR that returns back to the oil fill tube....Might as well vent to atmosphere.... :D

eek: :D
that was the original plan,my wife's truck does well with it.:D
But i figured i'll be a "concerned environmental obidient citizen":rules:. If that provent does'nt shape up in the next 4 K ,they can stick these:rules:where the sun dont shine, and i'll help the global warming along:thumbsup:
