Problem getting the black smoke to clear up with A-team. Looking for ideas.

Yes, after a lot of information dissemination and a little help from some members that recently purchased an A-Team Turbo, with their help and data gathering I went back to the factory and brought my brother (mechanical engineer 32 years) in to help me figure out what might be happening. It was determined that the last production run I ordered had been manufactured outside of the established specifications. Enough that it would cause a flow characteristic change in the turbine housing.

Like I said thanks to a few good data collectors, phone calls with them and throwing around ideas, I went to my brother and we then contacted the factory. Well the rest is not for this forum. If you are an A-Team Owner and are affected you WILL BE contacted and a replacement turbine housing will be available shortly. I am not going to discuss this more here you can if you are an A-team Owner discuss it more here

I will be happy to answer any questions. I appreciate the support from everyone that has been supportive. It is refreshing to know that there are good people out there.

Wow, hopefully WarWagon has not torn up the truck yet!!!

Sounds like the ATT needs some sort of Incoming Quality Inspection plan per Juran TQC methods.

After a week or two since the fix below I can say this problem has been solved. I did NOT have a recalled turbo.

I had a restricted fuel sock and serious fuel problems. They are not kidding about smoke from bugs in the fuel. Detailed in the thread below.

Lack of fuel to the IP messes up it's delivery bigtime resulting in black smoke.

I thought the burb got with it before, now with a tune I have a light white haze and it gets out of it's own way bigtime! No more coal train smoke! (Cept for spool time WOT puffs.) With the way I drive normally smoke is not (no longer) an issue.

Excellent. Do you ever run it up to Payson and beyond. I'm asking because my ATT and Altitudes above 3000' haven't gotten along well, smoke wise. Mine, as it turns out, was ran pretty hard with some during a test run by Ian (I bought it afterwards) and it may or may not have sustained some damage. If yours runs without / with minimal smoke above Payson, that could be a good indicator and save me some postage. So, I'm very curious to know how yours performs/behaves.
