its the date on a block i called a guy about he said its on the pass side above the bell housing right where it should be he said its a 506 and i was trying to find out if it is one that i would want to use
f=6 month 15th day but what is the 11. could it be 2001?

Must be 2001, maybe he added a 1 in there by accident, or a casting location? I believe late in the year 2000 GM sold the "6.5" rights to AMG or GEP?

If so, probably a good block to have.

talked to the guy again and he said GM is cast into the block. he also said the numbers look like this
f151 1 or something like that with the spase and he said some thing bout the two 1's being lower. he is suposed to be sending me a pic of it so we will see.
he also has a db2 that came off a truck running and he will sell it to me for $50  keep in mind he is a friend of mine

Well i cant get it till at the earliest tuesday but i think i may go ahead for 150 and its crack free he said 10tho on cyl will clean them up nice so its sounding pretty good to me. wish i could figure out that date code though

well the guy was looking at the wrong numbers on the block it is actually A247 which should be january 24 97 would this be a worth while block to use in my build???

If it's already a fairly high mile block without cracks I would think it'd be ok. Kinda passed the test of time so to speak.

I agree w/ AKDD, if a block has survived to higher mileage & shows no cracks, I'd be inclined to trust it. Maybe even more than a very low mileage example of the same year/casting.
