possible engine, (cracked starter bolt hole)

Just wondering because I'm doing a build with a Clearwater (china) block and heads. I mentioned this on another forum and got blasted! Glad yo hear I'm not the only one going this way.

yeah ... Clearwater says they will stand behind that block ........ but ....... given the fact that every mother f*****g thing is made in China ..... I would pop the extra hundred bones for the canadian block....... the chinese get enough of my money when I have to shop for my kids ........

for those of you that are going to say I should be buying American ....... when we were birthday shopping last week ...... the only american made toys we found was a lame ass organic hemp monkey doll that cost 100 bucks ....... and I looked for American made toys .... or atleast Canadian......
 
well i talked to the guy he will sell me both the 599 blocks and 2 sets of heads for $300 :eek::eek: sounds like a steel to me he also has an db2 injection pump thats used not sure what he wants for that but if its not to much ill prolly grab that as well

Those canadian ones are cast in china machined in canada

Could be a play on words, the fact that they are cast, but machined in Canada


And $300 for two engines and heads. Thats insane, even though one of them is cracked, a good single long block should be more than that. For that you should have him clean and magnaflux the good one.

i really think the guy just wants to be rid of them and im going to try and get him to magnaflux the one. it has been sitting for sometime without heads on it so there is soome rust in the cyl but im sure it will hone out or ill take it a couple tho over. the only thing i dont like about having him clean and magnaflux the one is iv got to put back together what someone else took apart but its not that hard i just put my brokin block all back together so i kinda got the feel for it
 
If it was me, I'd feel alot better if I took it apart so I knew what cyl everything came from instead of a pile of internals in a box.

thats what i decided today and im going up on friday with about $450 going to try and get the 2 long blocks and the ip and any other parts he may have that i want

hope the old saying money talks holds up. its been my experince that cash money can be a deal maker its happened to me when i was selling a topper guy showed up looked it over took out the same $400 im going to use to buy these motors with and i just had to say sold. but heck it came free on the truck PO said take it or leave it same price so naturaly i took it

I have one of those wasn't Clearwater was Diesel Direct before they went bust, when I did the splays I had the metal analyzed, was good metal, machined well, I would not shy awy just because it says made in China, more made in China stuff these days than most folks really know about.

It's not installed yet but I'm not afraid of it, just no time
