called a guy about some motors off good old craigslist they are in Sioux city IA and he has 2 6.5 599 blocks and a 6.2 660.
one of the 599s he said has a decent sized crack in the started bolt hole and it looks as tho some one tried to weld it up im thinking if this can be bought cheap could make something work. trying to get pics the date on this one puts it as a 93

the other 599 he said was bought to replace the one with the broke starter bolt. it has been sitting with heads off for some time inside an enclosed trailer some rust in cylinders not sure how bad that is (maybe a little honeing or maybe going over sized). hes not sure on the price for either but is going to get back to me today. the date code puts is c074 which would be march 7 of 94 thought they had switch to the 141 by then but maybe that was later that year

he also has 2 complete sets of heads.
he said the price will be really resonable cause he has ahd them for a while and they have not sold yet and they arent something he needs to have setting around
he is willing to tear things down and have them hot tanked and magnifluxed for a little extra

heres hopeing this will be my first string of good luck in a while :smile5:

The one with the crack is only worth scrap price. $3-400 for the pair of 599s with heads and no cracks. 660 $300 if complete.

those are kind the numbers i was thinking and to my surprise i was looking through my desk this am and found $400 that i had stashed from the topper i sold :D man i love finding money i foregot i had

My stash is loooooong gone. Maybe some change by the clothes washer is it.

Why fart around with old worn/broken engines, for $1200 you' buy a brand spankin new block.

im laid off and im trying to get the whole thing back together for as cheap as posible and as nice as posible if i can get a usable block and heads for less than 500 im set

You have nuttin but time on yr hands anyway, don't get in a hurry, all the fun is in the hunt! You'll find one...

the one that isnt cracked could be just the ticket though and if he wants to get rid of them both well then even better im betting i can come up with a way to make that cracked starter bolt hole stronger and have a spare engine

Are these just blocks, no other internals?

From 599 blocks, GM switched to the 929 block for the 95 model year trucks, 141 came later in 96 with the 10mm outer main cap bolts.

its my understanding that they are complete motors if his price isnt to high i would like to get all 4 heads and both the blocks the guy hasnt decided what he has to have for them but he dosent seem like he really wants them around

He might be one of the Sioux City guys that's going to be out of a job in April when the John Morrell slaughter plant closes down. I believe it's 1450 employees. He might be affected by that and looking for some quick cash so keep that in mind.

he said hes been laid off for 8mnths and used to make a hobby/sidejob of buying and selling engines and now he is doing it full time

For a complete good condition motor, short block will probably cost more than a few hundred. The surface corrosion will come out with just honing.
