PMD relocation pics?

X2 what Jim said.
I know its hard to believe, but it actually gets hotter there than being on the IP. Depending on your tstats you have 180-195* air blasting your pmd in that location. Ive done alot of testing and anywhere in the engine compartment is to hot.
I will say the new PMDs are all pretty good and would probally survive in that location, but why risk it when its so easy and cheap to bumper mount it. It was the old black Stanadyne that gives the most problems.
Ive sold over 3000 cables so far and not a single cable has ever had a problem.

I'll see if the harness is long enough to reach the bumper tomorrow then.

Saving the PMD means saving money and "I'm all over that"....

Just relocated mine on the interior today. I see alot of people put the Pmd out on the bumper but thought I would give the interior a try. Any one have theirs relocated to the interior? Good results?

Where in the interior ?, on a heat sink ? additional cooling fan or just on a sink in the interior ? yes several have tried the interior route, with limited success, over long term best place reported thus far has been out of engine bay on a heat sink with full air flow

Yea on a heat sink. Ran through the firewall. It acually sets by the drivers seat between it and the console, I can reach down and feel it, seems to be staying really cool because I can touch it and leave my hand on it. Can post some pics if you want. I am thinking of getting a fan you can plug into the lighter socket and mounting it to blow on it.

Ran through the firewall ??? yes pics please, that is a first install that way I've heard of in many years of being on the forums. Before I make any other comment pics please as I think from what I'm reading of your location description, yours may need to be relocated.

Drilled a 1 1/4 inch hole through the firewall and used a pcv grommit in the hole to clean it up and keep any wires from rubbing and ran the wiring harness through that. The driver and heat sink are inside the interior.

I saw a picture of it somewhere when I started researching... can't find it now. Guy put it right next to the 4wd shift on cooling fins.

PMD Cable mentions cab intertior on their site.

Only problem is here in GA, the interior might be hotter than the engine compartment in August! ):h

I will see if I can find that picture...

I've seen that picture as well. It was the "biege" interior color IIRC...

Here's were my PMD went after a stay on top of the manifold.

Yes, I spent about $80 on the extention cable, but I have 4 colors of 18ga 19 feet long left after building the cable. So actual cost is closer to $40.

This is how I put mine on the interior.
