Plasma Cutter

Thinking about getting a plasma cutter for work to replace the old cutting torch. I need some recommendations on what to get.
-Voltage doesn't matter
-Must cut up to 1/4" or better
-Price is less important than quality as this will get hard use here at work.

Hypertherm, Stilll got the ol smoke wrench but love the ease of the plazma cutter

Hypertherm makes very nice units. Miller also has started to make some very nice units that are a bit more portable.

Interesting. I like the Hypertherm, just haven't really heard of them. I've been reading about ESAB and Miller....decisions, decisions.........

Hypotherm. I have their Powermax 600. I really like it. They are good for 3/8"-1/2" max. They make units that will cut up to 1.5" IIRC.

I believe Miller has a wirefeed/plasma combo now .

We have had some Esab units in our shop and they have never held up, they eat up consumables very quick it seems, and there arc is no where near as clean as the Millers and Hypertherm.

I have the power max 45 It's a nice little unit, Paid $2600 cnd.

Hypertherm is the only way to go. Use em daily here at work. Had an issue or two with the Hypertherms also, but overall for the price can't beat em.
