Thanks for all the help. He was able to get the motor back together. Made a few mistakes but got it. Unfortunately the junkyard screwed him. The motor is blowing antifreeze into the coolant jug and smoking bad ...:suicide:

so they knowing sold him a bad engine and didn't tell him it was bad, but i'd guess that it was a good running engine? I'd have a fit. I'd be talking lawsuit if that yard doesn't come up with a good engine pronto. Nevermind the labor to change the engine again.

The truck is f'ed. We are working on a way to trailer it up here somehow. It needs more work than I can do in a day and my tools are all here. He lost the clutch as well. He broke the line when reconnecting it and replaced it but now he has no pedal again. He said he put a coolant pressure tester on it and it was losing pressure almost as fast as he pumped it up and no external leaks. No water in the oil so that's good. Either a cracked head or HG I hope. I told him to get half the money back fro the junkie and we'll use it to buy HG's and ARP studs and if need be use his old heads over. Right now we are working on a way to get it to CT. It is no longer drivable.
He wants my Dually so I may even give him a trade in and cut his truck up for parts. The thing is a rolling abortion. the PO was a real POS.

well, the scary part is the PO is a mechanic for a chevy dealer..what does that tell you...:mad2:

That tells me why there are no dealers out there that understand the 6.5. It also tells me why you'd have to shoot me repeatedly before i ever would bring either of my trucks to the dealership unless i'm driving there for some stupid part and leaving again.

The thing is a rolling abortion.

Vote for best quote ever.

I second that one.

I'll third that. :rof:

Parts it is...I'm taking the truck on trade. I will be dismantling it as soon as I get it running to see if the motor is worth saving at all. The cab and bed are clean and will be up for sale. I will be keeping everything else off it.

where will you be posting pics/info of the truck parts?

In about week or so. Probably post on CL. I am keeping most of the stuff. The bed and the cab are pretty clean. Will be selling both a i have no need for them. Keeping the lift kit for the burb. Tires and rims for the CUCV . I will try and get the truck running before I slice it up to see if the motor is worth saving as a runner or just a core.
I don't have pics but he pulled the heads of the old motor. Piston hit the head. Lots of carnage. He did not have time to take pics as the junkyard agreed to give him 400$ refund but they still wanted the old junk motor back. They did offer to replace the motor but at this point the truck has many other issues so we told them we were going to fix the motor they gave us but needed 400$ for parts so atleast he got something back. I have to pick the truck up sometime next week. when I have it in my possession I will assess the condition of it more thoroughly and post any stuff that will be for sale.
