I'll post pictures up a little later today hopefully. Found a posting on the wonderful craigslist for a 1993 Chevy P30 16' aluminum body van. Its got the original 6.2 with 130,000 miles on it. Plugs cycle well and all you gotta do is bump the key and it cranks almost immediately. It recieved a GM new 4l80E transmission 20,000 miles ago with a new TCM to go with it. I picked this thing up for $2400, plan on pulling engine and tranny then scrapping the rest of it. It's also got two new batteries and a new radiator that i'll be keeping as well. I figured this would be a good deal. Depending on what the scrap yard gives me I might end up breaking even and having an engine/tranny out of it. It also has a GM 14 bolt dually in the rear I might keep as well.

What kind of parts are you looking for? Vans in perfect running condition, except for the master cylinder locked up last night driving it home.

Man I'd love that shelving set up I'm not sure about shipping on something that big tho how about pics of the cab area

Yea, this beast is heavy, the F450 tow truck was struggling to tow it. Your like 4000 miles away, i'd hate to know what the shipping costs would be. I can get pictures later on of the cab. Anything in particular you'd want. I'd be more than happy to pull the dash if you need something like that.

I wonder what the shelving would weigh disassembled? If you could snap a couple of pics of the entire cab area so I could look see would be nice. thanks

Anything aluminum is going to be scrapped unless it's worth more sold to someone as opposed to per pound you know. Not trying to be mean, i'm just trying to recover costs as best I can. If the scrap guy doesn't want to give me much for it, then i'd of course rather sell it to someone that could use it. I'll get up some pictures this evening.

I understand you want at least scrap value for the aluminum I would expect that. Most scrap places around here unless you bring it cleaned and in certain sizes (not to big) really deduct from the going rate. From this set of pics it looks like only the horizontal shelves are aluminum and the rest plywood. Definetly wouln't be interested in the plywood shipping would be a killer for wood. Up front depending how hard it would be to remove possibly that overhead compartment but the dash is waaay different. what's the door look like?

Sure that its a 6.2 ? I didn't think they were offered in 93. Not a 6.5NA ?

Yea they were built in 93, last year. Its got a sticker on the air cleaner that says 6.2 haha. I hope its a 6.2 anyways.

AK Diesel, the vertical pieces are aluminum, my blackberry has a crappy camera and it was low light. All shelves are aluminum except for the hand built shelf in the first picture on the far left. It's all riveted together. I can drill out the rivets and take them apart pretty easily. I can box them up and weight them to get an estimate on shipping. Let me know if your serious about it and i'll do it. Overhead compartment shouldn't be hard, i've never looked at it though. The door is sliding aluminum, it's solid and works great. I've even got a little fold away passenger seat. I'll try to get pictures of those when I can.

well it's all about the weight it's going to determine price and shipping. are you going to have to disassemble anyway for the scrapyard?

Yea i'm going to disassemble it anyways. But it'll be after I pull the engine and transmission. I'll keep you posted on all that and send you a PM after I weigh it all and get a quote on shipping.

I have to choose between 3 diesels when ordering parts on 1993: 6.2 NA, 6.5 NA, 6.5 Turbo (High Output). :D

That 6.2 will have a 1 piece rear main seal. Nice engine if 130K of hard work didn't crack it up.

when did Simon post on this thread? also you can see the sticker pretty clearly on the left side of the air cleaner
