I have a 1998 chevy 1500 with a 6.5TD. 10-13-13 morning i went to start my truck and it started kinda rough for about 2 seconds and than idled normal.
Than the service light came on. I went had see what code it was throwing and it was p0251.(Injection pump fuel metering control A) On the way home the light went off. what would be the best action to take. thank you all.

Is the Lift Pump actually pumping fuel?

I would add 2 cycle oil with the fuel, 1 oz per gallon 1st time then 1/2 oz per gallon thereafter.
If you have not done so.

If the code does not come back, leave it alone for now.

Do nothing for now. Wait to see if it returns or the symptoms reappear.

Possible causes are air bubbles in fuel (leak in suction side of lines), Low fuel levels (air again), optical sensor failure or on older trucks the optical sensor filter has been known to cause this. 98 Should not have the filter as it's built in to the PCM.

i will add some two cycle oil. it has been raining alot of past couple weeks.

Also would like to relocate my PMD soon, where would guys buy kits from?

X2 on above post. Leroy has a good bumper relocate kit with good quality cable that won't burn up. Customer service can't be beat as well. You call his # and you get Leroy.

could you tell me the difference between the two PMD relocation kits?
LEROY'S Flight Systems PMD relocation kit
LEROY'S Stanadyne PMD relocation kit

it would be for a 1998 chevy 1500 autotrans 6.5td
thank you

One is a Stanadyne PMD, the other is a Flight Systems PMD. It's just the manufacturer...
