Optimizer Failure Points?

Welp, it's official. I've made my decision. Im going to talk to the loan officer tomorrow, but thankfully from my student loans (Bachelors in Biology and Analytical Chemistry, yet I work at an RV dealership lol terrible life choices lol) I have awesome credit. So I am going to talk to a loan officer tomorrow and granted things go well, I'm on the list for P400 from Leroy.

That is a painful choice to make for laying out the nickels, but what comfort when it is in. The way they do those rods and that girdle- nice!

Between the biology and analytical chemistry, you should be making nanotech bugs to fix the engine from the inside! Cmon, man! Haha

Well, talked with the loan people today and confirmed it, looks like I am tracking towards a P400. I've already spoken to Leroy about it. The monthly payments aren't that bad and we can afford it now. Talking the fiance into it was the hardest part but she is supportive of me. So good things here. On a side note, I worked in a lab for a pharmaceutical company before where I work now, as there head microbiologist, and let me tell you, it's not like the fun Bill Nye, Carl Sagan shit we all partly grew up with. It sucked. And the pay sucked. To put it into perspective, I made almost $4 an hour more sitting behind a desk doing warranty work at an RV dealership compared to that job. Not my dream job or where I want to work, but hey, somethings gotta pay the bills. Plus, we get to take used campers and drive units out anytime we want and go camping in them for free, so it has its perks. Plus a full size paint booth that can accomodate a 40ft motorhome and place where I can work on my engine/dirtbike. And welders and tools. I mean honestly, I can't really complain lol

Nice. Sometimes it's hard to quantify the fringe benefits in a job. However, it is definitely a consideration in having a job because it can have benefits monetarily by being able to use equipment you don't have to buy or rent and also mental happiness benefits because it's a place you don't mind spending a large part of your life. No judgement here!!

You don't ever stop amazing me with your fabrication skill-set and now with this common sense approach to the fringe benefits of a job that most never ever consider.....

Having common sense is a tricky thing lol The hardest part is considering every scenario before jumping into anything. I figured I don't have a block that I consider useable, and a Teds take out will run me $3500, plus another $1000 for a rebuild and girdle and everything, and thats IF the mains arent cracked, which you won't know until after you buy it. Big risk for me. And buying a new Optimizer outright from Leroy is approx. $7000. And for another $1000 I can buy a P400 long block and get a forged crank, better cam, improved heads and with better cooling between the valve seats to reduce cracks between valves, hardened valve seats, a girdle build into the block basically, Mahle pistons with anti-friction skirting, I mean, to me, that's worth way more than the extra $1000 price, so at this point its sort of a no brainer.

I've talked to Leroy and already taken that into account on the amount of the loan. We are currently looking into weather it will clear with my crossover. I think we will be ok. Worst case scenario, we have to remake a bit of it and drop it lower

Any word on when they are available to ship? I know they were backloged for some time. Lots of military toys at the front of the line has a few people waiting a bit.
