Good morning few days ago I asked for help with sel 17 and got quick answers. Thanks to you guys that problem is solved. Im brand new to this site so bare with me. Viewers caught my post and one suggested removing the filters and plug directly back in to op sensor. Well that did the trick until yesterday when I stopped at 7-11 for a big gulp refill. I got into to truck and forgot to let the glow plugs cycle truck started sputterd and stalled? Its not the first time I forgot to do this. I allways try to let it cycle no matter what the temp is outside because I dont want any starting issues. Needless to say I was stranded for about 20 min. until I gave it a littel throttle during crank. This time It did fire and blew some black smoke from giving it some throttle? It did run like shit though kept stalling missing and major lack of hp? When this happed before I would pop the hood poke at the op sensor filters and everything was hunky dory for a couple days. Well Im not getting a sel light now and I did let it sit overnight and started it up this morning without any problems, however I have a feeling this is going to re-appear again when I need this ride running. ANY ADVISE would be great on where to look next. This 6.5 is stock with a performance chip installed by my late father.
 
optic sensor triggered by bad fuel. clogged fuel filter/screen/tank sock, PMD.
 
new tank,sender,along with fuel lines & filter. However pmd was never changed out still mounted on IP? Done a little reserch about pmds with extention cable but funds are limited would like to get heatsink along with it. So far I found two sources heath or pmdcable.com not to confident with ebay but need my ride back with not having to worry if I can get to doc appt. on time. any thoughts on these suppliers?
 
Both suppliers are good but pmdcable is a site vendor.

Is the weather pac connector nice and tight? Just thinking you may have a bad connection. PMD is also a likely culprit.
 
dtom, I'm certain that these guys here will be able to get you all the good info you need to make your truck the best it can be but I also know for certain that they are gonna want you to fill in your signature with truck info so they can give you the right answers.

I have a few "reject" heat sinks I could sell for 1/2 price, normaly $40. These are heat sinks that taps or drill bits may have broken off in, so an extra set of hole will have to be drilled/tapped next to those. It really will have no bearing on its ability to function as designed, but I can't sell them at full price like that. Its not much, but its better than a poke in the eye!

anyone close to you that can let you try a known good unit. they dont come cheap and a waste if part is still good.
 
may need it? unsure if running w/o is causing interferance from alternater. One thing I know is the problem dident trip my sel. it just seem to go way out of time like bucking,coughing and stalling in the middle of intersections? its allmost funny my 4way flasher switch is cracked and does not work so I had some unhappy campers behind me..damn women even flipped me off while talking on her cell phone. I think you may know what im talking about.
 
I wish I did before I drop dime on this, It started with no problems this morning taking my boy to school? all is fine now but my outher boy I must have at uofm hospital tomorrow morning, so im not going nowhere unless I have to.
 
sounds more like lack of fuel if you would fill out your sig so we knew what year it is it would be helpful. 94-95 are prone to OPS problems which control the lift pump.
