One Wheel Peels are Getting Old

I understand the sliding sideways thing. With both rear wheels spinning, trying to push you forward, any sidehill slope will have you going down hill sideways, just like on a slippery muddy surface. With both rear wheels pushing forward with the same force and the front wheels on a slippery muddy surface I've had the front wheels plow when trying to turn, until they catch traction.
So when I was given their sliding the front wheels on ice instead of turning scenario I put that in the same boat as my mud experience. AK, since you deal with snow and ice on a routine basis there, can you explain your statement and teach this old dog some new tricks?

Don

if your front tires are sliding without them being locked in your probably driving too fast for the conditions

Hey AK, glad you are home safe.

I wasn't with the guys that reported the problems with the lockers and ice so I can't tell you how fast they were driving. But, for me and the mud, well, I was at a very slow speed. I was turning my travel trailer around and the only place was soft on the surface.I had no rear wheel traction problem. I just couldn't get the front wheels to go where they were turned to. I ended up getting my Toyota FJ40 out locking it into 4X4, hooking to the front of the pickup I had at the time and pulling the nose sideways to finish getting it turned around.

with the right conditions I'm sure what your saying is truw. You were light on the front tires because of the TT. I guess what I'm trying to say is that unless your in 4x4 it won't make a diff on steering. Did you try and move it while not in 4x4.

I wish i had any sort of cash to put into mechanicals this year. I was more hoping that i could find a good used unit or get mine rebuilt. I need to save all my cash this year to redo the cab corners and some other body parts. My truck is falling apart.
