One more 6.5 bites the dust....

Perhaps the airbags don't go off becuase they aren't solid. They have a lot of give. They do alot of damage, but I don't think they effect the inertia enough to trip the sensors. Gotta pick n choose the meat though, don't want the bloody parts........<snip>...

If I remember correctly, the sensors used to trigger airbags are installed in the vehicle's frame/subframe and not on the fenders/grilles/supports/etc. The sensors are strain gages, basically. They are secured to a solid surface and will stretch/compress when the surface is deformed, and it's this stretching or compression that changes the sensor's resistance value.

When the resistance delta threshold is reached/surpassed, the airbag control system electromechanically triggers the airbag to deploy.

I don't know if they still use sodium azide in the "explosive" charge that inflates the bag; highly super toxic; 50-60 grams in driver's bag, 150-200 grams in passenger's bag.

So, if your airbags deploy, DON'T BREATHE!!!...:D If you're knocked out, then, you're excused.

You believe that 0% crap?
Its all calculated in in the purchase price

As the rebate shows for a cash discount over the 0%. Makes the payoff calc easy though. Don't take 0% if you will trade before the last payment!

Yeah should buy this back and part it out or fix it... :D

Truck has just under 500 000 kms on it....not interested in pulling wrenches on the old beasts anymore...the one 6.2 in the fleet is enough for my IDI appetite...

last winter a local municipal plow truck hit a deer with the big hooked blade on the duece and a half. The deer flew up and around the big blade, landed in a field, got up and ran off.

End of story.

Missy

I hit one last year with the plow on. The Blade hit the dear just behind the ribs. All I saw was him sliding across the other lane in to the ditch. On my way back, it was gone.

He hit hit pretty hard, about 40 mph. No body damage though.

Almost hit a couple this fall. That would have been bad news.

The guy at Honda told me the reason the ones didn't go of in the Pilot is because I never hit the brakes for what that is worth but does sound kinda stupid. I was concerened when it happended that they didn't go off and might later on.
