Hello kind folks,
I bought an old ranger rover it’s 1991 with 235k on it,
Range rovers life span is usually 80.000 miles , then they get crashed and turned into coca-Cola cans, basically they are absolutely pile of garbage inside out and every inch,
But they kinda look cool, and that’s exactly why I bought it,
Few years back I had done same swap on a Range Rover but being a moron I sold that vehicle,
It was 6.2 NA, I made an adapter to with with zf22 transmission,
Later on I didn’t like that and I switched to T56 Dodge Viper manual transmission,
Truck was super reliable and I regret selling it,
Fast forward 8 years and it’s time to build another one, but this time I am gonna use NV4500,

I need some help on those transmissions, hopefully one of you knowledgeable guys can point me to right direction.

what’s the best year nv4500?
what’s the length of the nv with bellhousing?
Are there different gear ratio NV4500s?

Pics below are from my previous swap,
if u see I made an adapter using NV4500 bellhousing to bolt ZF225725857259572605726157262

Glad to see you got it posted up here.

Hey guys- this dude is the guy that beat me to the punch having the dimpled 4 core radiator built for the hummer.
Helped me a chunk and is a fun guy.

He’s also the guy that made the descent YouTube video how To crank the fuel screw on db2. So he is all about helping others in the6.2/6.5 world.
I told him post here knowing a stack of you guys know the manual trans a ton more than me.

And anybody in the N cal, N nv area that gets a chance to meet up with him- do so, I’m glad I got to meet him.

Seeing as the early responders are not really answering any questions . . . ;)

I can take care of a couple of items:
- Yes, there are two possibilities for gear ranges and IIRC the difference is in 1'st. I had all the details at one time, but apparently deleted it when I did a data purge.

- From a best year approach, am not aware of one year any better than the other. The only notable thing I found was that for some reason the ones that went into a Dodge had issues with the 5'th gear retainer nut. There are fixes for the Dodge issue.

At the risk of insulting, there are 2WD and 4WD versions where the internals are the same.

There are differences in the GM bellhousings due to the hydraulics, so you will probably need to source the matching hydraulics to go with the bellhousing. IIRC, the date ranges for interoperability are 94 and earlier, 95 is a stand-alone year, and 96+. Seeing as this is not for a GM build, it might not apply though.
