Oil Pressure Dropped........Pump Removal Questions

Why tear into a 180K engine to replace bearings when you are going to find a 'block' crack(s) that ruin it? Ruin means not economical to rebuild with that crack...

Simply put you are better off not knowing how bad things look in there until you have to. And yes, extreme blowby becomes a reason to look...

I'd pull the pan before I condemned the block. It's really hit or miss. With how it was treated/driven also being a large factor

Agreed, the 1997 chevy i pull the engine out of had a completly crack free 141 block with 300,000+ km on it. ( to the naked eye that is)

DZ Was the 141 block an oil squirter or pre oil squirt(piston cooling) ? What was the problem with it ?

I believe it is a pre oil squirter. And nothing was wrong with it at all it ran and started smoother then my 506. The reason for stripping it down is I'm building it into a monster right now.
