No turbo after 50 mph?

After I hit around 50 or so and overdrive kicks in the truck sounds like it has no turbo like it's just a throaty gasser like a bog sound I do have a 4" exhaust one muffler no cat to single stack. Do I have the manual wastegate to lose? I know the turbo is smaller than what was on my other truck but I still used to feel turbo pull after 50.

Do you have a Boost Gauge? That'll tell you everything, and will show you even at low speeds, if you are boosting as much as you should be.

At normal speeds I'm boosting up to 5-7 psi or so but I can't look at it going fast since It's on the floor when I'm doing about 25 and glance I see 5 psi.

At 40mph at woth I'm pushing 10psi my gf said the Guage peaked at before I had to stop.
Also when the truck is hot after driving it sometimes when I start it I have to give it some gas or it will stall. I put a new fuel filter on could this be because the injectors need replacing. I also have a new pmd with heat sink and relocation.

Or could this also be the lift pump.

Ya need to get boost and fuel pressure gauges mounted up where you can see it. With out them all your going to do is guess.

Well I got my boost gauge mounted to were I can see it now the boost was 10 psi at woth at 40 mph.

Sounds like its working just fine. Maybe gearing, aerodynamics etc is coming into play. The less boost at cruise, the better.

O see I had a manual transmission in my last truck with 410 gears I'm used to a constant spool because I never used od.

He's got a spring wastegate iirc. Cruise is going to be higher than the vac system since the wastegate is probably closed.

Only time boost is likely backing off is when he gets on constant throttle setting, which is a function of less fuel.

10 psi at cruise on level ground is high. I would say because the wastegate is still closed. For comparison, I only run around 4-5 psi at a steady speed. Sometimes seeing only 3 psi, depending on conditions.

Looking back through his posts, all the readings seem high. Again, wastegate is probably being held closed by the spring....

I can hear when the wastegate opens the sound changes I can also open my wastegate by hand my spring dosnt have allot of pressure 10 psi was at 40mph from a stand still I mashed the gas hit 40mph woth 10psi max peak before it stopped climbing I was also going up a slight hill I can always put a vacuum wastegate on it everything is hooked up still the line is just blocked.

Vacuum wastegate isn't going to get you any more psi without reworking the calibration or an old school style "boost fooler".

Better to just build a proper diy turbo master or buy the real thing for 110 bucks (at least that's what it was when I bought one many moons ago).

I built a proper one.
