NMB2's pecker measuring contest 6.5/6.9

How about some drag times from this truck that will walk a stock Duramax?

Ran a 15.774 with the old pump/inj/turbo.... have only had this new pump on since last Friday night, but it is definitely much faster now. Very noticeable just in watching my videos.

My truck will easily walk a stock duramax... like I said, it holds within a car length of my friends 428/820 6 leaker, which is obviously a heavy truck... but also much faster than a stock d-max. He ran a 14.92... I would guess based off of that I might be able to squeeze off a 15 flat. Once I put the automatic in and tune it, along with 3.73's... could see a 14.5

...So, 14.5 with a ton of work done to it. How much money would you say you have in that?

Good tune and a $250 lift pump will easily put a Duramax in the mid 13's. Not knocking down your accomplishments as that's impressive for that truck. When it comes to the newer common rails you're going to have a hard time keeping up dollar to dollar.

14.5 should be pretty easy with the 4R100, very possibly faster....but, its not a race truck, its my tow rig for my rock truggy.... nothing I have done to it was geared towards making it fast. The performance gains, or speed... whatever you want to call it are just the side affects of the modifications I did to tow with it.

I also own a 2002 LB7, and am starting work for ATS in the next 30 days. This will be my race truck. I intend on a full engine build. Billet rods, twin cp3's, compounds, efi live, extreme allison, ect. I am very aware of what it takes to make what diesels, do what.

As for how much money I have in it.... about $12,000. Not bad considering it has a brand new engine, brand new custom paint job, new interior...power everything, cruise, a/c,..... ect. It was also valued @ $17,600, so I'm doing pretty good. Not bad for a 20yr old Ford.

Any pics of your pipes that go to the turbo?

No wastegate I assume?

my first charger was an S300 - 62/65/.80 T3 WG.... and is what I built the kit with:

6.9's and 7.3's didn't ever seem to have real head gasket issues like teh 6.2/6.5 did from what I have seen. So I would imagine with good fasteners and a good set of replacement head gaskets the 6.9/7.3L could take alot more abuse than a 6.2/6.5 with a set of stock gaskets and studs could do. I'm sure like most any diesel though, tuning plays a big role in what gos and what blows as much as what hard parts you use does.

What was your 60 ft,and mph ?

I assume you are always spraying water? Or whatever it is that you spray...

No, I rarely spray it, it goes through it too fast to keep it full. I've probably pumped 4 or 5 gallons through, not much.

When it is running though, its run on basically a hobbs switch. @ 20psi boost it clicks on.

Was lookin' at the videos in post 5. The ol' beast gets with the program. Impressive, dude! The 6.9 is moving a lot of steel down the road for sure.

...As for the weight of the chevy.... I googled for the curb weight and ECSB 4x4 came up @ 4500-4700lbs on all of the forums, and info I found

Just posting some info:

1998 K2500 ECLB. full tank and me in it. Scaled a couple ticks under 7,000 lbs with nothing else in it. 6968 IIRC. That was before the bed cap and finished bed interior.

So I'm probably around 7200-7300 as it sits now.

Can't say about a 1500, but that's what my truck weighs.

Not trying to get in on the "discussion", just sayin' the GM's aren't as light when at "fighting trim" as people think they are. At least not the 2500's and up......

My truck regularly gets weighed at the dump, certified scales. 6980 lbs with me and a full tank of fuel. My fathers 2001power stroke 250 short bed four door weighed considerably more. On the plus side of 7000 lbs with ease.

I'm actually shocked to hear these numbers. No idea the GM's weighed that much. when googling people claim anywhere from 4000-5500 for ECLB gassers. Clearly there is a significant difference with the 2500+.

I know my 01 2500HD wasn't exactly light.

My truck is about 6700 give or take with my load of tools and stuff in it. Ive upgraded my rear springs so the truck could almost pass as a 3500. Is always very impressive to see that much steel moving as quick as some of the videos you have especially for an IDI. My truck will never be very fast due to 3.42 gears. But i can almost hit 20 mpg's highway! Hopefully with the new turbo i will reach that number.

I'll guess that the low numbers are the difference between keyboard racers and actually getting the truck on the scales.

When I go looking for "6.5 diesel K2500 curb weights" the media all comes up with around 5500. For example: http://www.automobile-catalog.com/make/chevrolet_usa/suburban_07gen/suburban_07gen_k2500/1995.html

5100 for a 454, 5500 for a 6.5

But I've got the scale slip that shows mine 7000-ish.

Never take what the OEM (or keyboard racers) puts out as gospel......
