Are now BRIGHTER and have more Range than HID's!!

This has been a HUGE Struggle for LED's. They've had the Up Close Brightness to Beat Out HID's, but they just couldn't Throw the Light as Far as HID's...until now.

Meet the Baja Designs Squadron LED Lamps. They put out 3600lm (HID is 3200-3400lm) and Throw the Light Farther.

Here is is Comparo Shot of an HID Spot Lamp VS the New LED Squadron. (These are not my Pics, they belong to "traveltoad" on advrider.com Found them through Google.)

I just Ordered a Set in the Spot Beam for my Jeep. Gonna Replace the PIAA 550's on the Windshield Mounts with them.

Assuming the camera setting was the same for both shots, the LEDs definitely throw a wider spread beam and with enough more light up close to "burn" the center of the pic. The LEDs definitely show more distance as the tail light reflectors in the distance are showing more reflection.

The cost is enough to stop me though. I'll wait a while, the price will come down as the manufacturing technology gets better.

I just wish I could find a decently priced set of LED spotlights. I want to put a set on the pontoon boat for running at dusk as the outboard on it has very little output so halogen bulbs don't work very well on it. I put a set of cheapo LED driving lights on it, but they have absolutely no focus to them and the light just sort of scatters.

Only issue I see is that particular lens/reflector is throwing light everywhere, even up into the tree tops.

Great for off road, not legal on road unless high beam only.

Could be easily fixed with a good cut off shield incorporated into the original design.

The hid shot doesn't look right either. No cut off, poor projection, no side fill, etc. I'm going to guess it's one of those hid "retro kits" where you throw a capsule into a stock housing and expect it to perform like an OEM hid projector. Not going to happen.

Still, it is impressive for LEDs though....

They are both Off Road Spot Lights. Def. can't be Used On Road unless for High Beams.

The HID Lamp is a Trail Tech Lamp, that is Designed and Sold as HID. No Drop In Kit in a Halogen Housing.

man 3600 LM at 44 watts is a real nice setup. But my Rigid Led's are doing pretty good at half the cost.

My PIAAs were caked in rust from living in the awesome state of taxation. They weren't worth anything toward the end. The only things that were salvageable were the lenses.

Now that I've got my projectors in my car, I'm thinking about getting some 4300k HID for my fog lights - 9145.

Don't you have some Amber Housings in your Car now? It Looked like you did when you put the Projectors in.

Ok, so I Ordered these for my Jeep to Replace the 3 HID Spot Lights I had in front of the Grille.

Got these Installed Today.

Just went for a Drive to get them Aimed right and Such.

Verdict is....these things are the Real Deal Guys.

I would have no Problem putting them 1 on 1 with an HID Lamp with a Comparable Beam Pattern.

These things are BRIGHT and absolutely 100% worth the Money.

These are def. Brighter than the 20" LED Lightbar with 40 3-Watt LED's in it that I Originally Bought. The Seller Claimed 12k Lumens from it. It'd say it puts out 3k Lumens at most. 1 Squadron with only 4 LED's is still Brighter than the 20" Bar with 40 LED's in it.

Here they are Mounted on the Lightbar in front of the Grille. See if you can find them. :)

So this will probably be the future for headlights over HID's right?
