new truck, new problems

Rockauto get the ACDelco

Agreed.

That is exactly what we did on dad's 92. I have been pleased w/ AC Delco electronics.

(That is the only good part about the PO's shitty fuel filter system. oem is gone, so it is a piece of cake. (Fuel manager is still going back though.))

Our symptoms were 40 psi with key on, engine off, then 40 psi running. change sender, and it is 0 key on motor off, and 40 psi motor running.

20 psi or just under at idal?! with the new switch.. dosnt seem right

The OPS on the 97 is on the LH side of the valley just behind the intake plenum and just ahead of the fuel filter.

Not all that hard to get to.
The likelyhood is that the OPS is going south, especially if the thing jumps in 5 pound spurts.

MGW

Brand new AC ops. Goes up to around 40 with throttle, goes so low when you stop the check guages light comes on..

update: now only goes to 30. maybe i was wrong about the drive last night.

you know... in my honest opinion...I would drop the pan and see if indeed they put the wrong oil pump on that engine...and if they did... I'd replace the oil pump with the proper one...there is a chance that no damage was done to the motor and it could run another 100k mi. ...heck if it goes another 20k you still bought much needed time and usage out of it...$91 at gmpartsdirect...and if you feel you need to pull the caps(like another member recommended) and check while you're in there for that extra piece of mind, knock yourself out.

I'm not a 6.5 mechanic so take it with a grain of salt...

but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night...

(flame suit on...)

:iagree:
SOunds like that would be your best bet right know. Hell maybe they didn't put the gasket in it. Don't forget while you are under there look to see if it is a squirter block.

Well we had a Ohio/Western PA GTG last nite, lots of Diesel fumes, Cummins, DMAX and even the 6.5, just needed a Stroke and it would have gotten them all there.

I had a look at Justin's Dually, it's got at minimum a head gasket issue; I will post pics when I return to my hotel tomorrow and can access my CF card reader, I'm guessing also from description with Justin 1st hand that the "issues" with the new truck will need more diagnosis.

From what Wrecker & I can assertain, most suspect is oil pump, if this is a International reman, possibly they used a low $$$ replacement oil pump, or "used but good" one that is no longer doing its job, according to Justin he had good oil pressure for a while when he 1st got it, then it went low.

So good to bad pressure would suggest a pump issue to us more than incorrect squirters, we have recommended a few other things for him to check.

Now let me throw this out there, conditionally based on permission from Justin's boss aka "The Wife"; who is up for a GTG at Justin's place next weekend and we do a head gasket swap, and diagnostic evaluation of the new truck.

Wrecker & I are thinking this would be very cool idea real "gear-head" stuff, a chance to help out a DTR Brother, just all around good gear head fun.

Again all contingent to what Justin's wife has to say about the idea, but I just wanted to throw the idea out now so those who are regionally close could be be thinking about it.

Keep watching for the announcement if it's a go.

Now if it's not a go, we will be having another meet in Grove City, Pa. next Friday, so either at Justin's or in Grove City next Friday, stay tuned for details 9-11-09 we will also be remembering the fallen of 9-11-01 if you are regional and want to meet some other DTR guys be sure to hook up with us, traveling oil can will be available for signatures as well.
