New PMD?

I need to check a rumor. I seem to remember reading somewhere that a keyway, I think on the socket, can be trimmed to allow the new grey stanadyne to plug into the D tech socket. Does anybody know anything one way or the other about this?

Don

If you use a new grey PMD and an old wire harness then you will have a mix of metals on the pins and sockets, which is not a good thing. The grey PMD uses gold plated pins. If you dont want to change out the harness that goes to the fuel solenoid, then youd want to get a cable with an old connector on the IP side and a new connector on the PMD side. And it should be easy enough for Leroy to do that.

Leroy's link from my post 13...is this not what I think it is?

I think Leroy is adevertising a new gold plated extension cable on both ends there. The Grey PMDs come with a new Fuel Solenoid harness that has gold plated sockets for the PMD that you are expected to install. But Im sure he can easily make one with gold plated on the PMD end and tin or whatever on the other.

That is not at all what I thought this was...???

Quoted from the linK

"We are the very first and only company to offer this cable for the new grey Stanadyne PMD. Part # 35976. It has the correct gold plated pins and is a plug and play cable.

Stanadyne is now offering a new style PMD. It is different than the older black PMD's the new one is grey in color. You must get the proper connectors with this new PMD. The old style connectors will not fit. Also the new style PMD has gold plated terminals.

We will send you a brand new 6' cable WITH the proper connectors and the correct gold plated sockets on the new cable. You dont want to mix different types of metal especially in this application because electrolysis can occur.

PLEASE NOTE: You are buying the cable only. The PMD in the picture is not for sale.

This is a brand new extension cable used to locate the PMD FSD to a cooler place. This cable is 6 feet long. The protective loom is High tempature rated.

The cable is 6 feet long so you can locate the PMD FSD OUTSIDE the engine compartment.

Simply unplug your PMD and plug this harness in, route this harness to new location and plug other end into a new/used FSD. PMD or "pump mounted driver usually refers to a stock application and FSD or " fuel solenoid driver" refers to a remote mounted PMD."

Where ya at Leroy??? Please confirm for us...

Just file the tabs of the old stile harnass connector and it'll fit both PMD's,you can do the same with the resistors
The weatherpack seal won't be compromised either.

Yup, I confirm that; as I experienced it : I had to install a new IP and relocate the grey PMD which came with it.
I had no special grey extension, so I trim the notches on the side of the extension male plug, and it fit with no problem inside the grey PMD.
Just make sure about how you will plug inside : don't rotate 180°

I'm pretty sure it's about the same story for the resistor...

Now, grey connectors are gold plated, so I don't know if the extension must too...

Hey guys. Its been awhile since Ive posted. (lots of family issues)
Anyway just to confirm what my cable is/does.
With it you can leave the original short IP harness installed. That means you don't have to pull the manifold to change that if you are installing a grey Stanadyne. My cable is tin plated on the connector closest to the ip it has the female body and male pins in it. The connector that plugs into the PMD has gold plated pins. That connector has a male body with female sockets.

If you do want to pull the manifold and change the short ip harness you can still do that, my cable will fit both styles on that end of the cable only. the pmd side is specific.

Hey Leroy do you have the option of gold plated on both ends of the extension. So if we install the new IP harness with gold plated sockets for the PMD, we would have gold plated pins on the extension cable that plugs in there.

No Buddy. I cannot find the correct gold plated pins for the male pin side of the harness, so My recomendation is to use the
original harness.
