I have a 97 K3500 with 260,000 miles which I bought in sept. The truck runs fine but does break up sometimes going up hills. Also the fuel pedal is fine when I apply pressure but immediately drops power when i release even just a little bit..I'm not sure if either the pmd or injectors have ever been changed however I was told by the previous owner ( diesel mechanic) the injector pump was changed

What should I do first::

1) New PMD with relocator kit ( which is the best and why)

2) New injectors and probably lines ( again which is the best ? I presume Bosch but should I buy new or rebuilt and from Who?)

Thanks, Steve

Thanks ,, The problems I'm having does that sound familiar to PMD problems.? Also which PMD should I get theres a guy on ebay selling a brand new stanadyne ( Light gray) a #9 resister the 6' harness and heat sinc for $305
I also see the Dtech is this good also?? which one would you get?

The new Stanadyne PMD is supposed to be good.

If I were you, get a new DTech or various rebrand.
There are a few supporter of this forum that sells it like pmdcable or Heath.

The best is Heath because it has 7 years warranty.
PMDCable also sells it with that warranty at the same price as Heath.

another question for you guys who have a plow and the PMD relocation kit.. Where do you have it mounted? I know they recommend behind the front license plate bracket but I'm afraid of the snow /slush/ice getting in there and ruining it

They are weather proof, or you should make it weather proof when it's a DIY deal.....Heath dropped his setup in a bucket of water for like 10 years and it never failed.

Well maybe not 10 years, (I'm just being dramatic)...but he did run it in a bucket for like a day or something.

All the more reason to buy a complete setup with a 7 year warranty and "forgetaboutit!"

I plow, and I have mine on a home made 6X6X2 square heatsink,, behind the bumper is an air deflector, Mine sit's on top of that, fastened in place with 2 plastic zip-ties. Been there 1.5 years and I'm starting my 2nd plow season. My bumpers get packed with snow, but it don't go over that air deflector. No worries.

Thanks you two  I was wondering why people pay over $500 for something and place it in a location where it can be ruined by moisture but you have answered my question

Now , i really can't afford the heath PMD so ive been looking at either the pmdcable one which is a dtech and has either a 1 yr or 5 yr or there's one on ebay which is a new light gray stanadyne with a two year warranty..

what do ya think I want to keep the price down under $350 because I'd like to buy some new injectors soon..

That one will work. The only problem I see is if it does die you have to get another grey one. Might be a pain out on the road

Leroy, figured out a way to make them work with the Original harness.

??? Did you personally talk to Leroy? I just don't want to spend a boat load of $$ where it seems like the " New improved " stanadyne light gray model which he says has a two year warranty for that price which includes the harness heat sync and resistor is not a bad deal..
