New oil cooler fitting allows -10 SS hoses and OEM cooler

You can put the larger -10 kit on any of the trucks. The -8 kit is suited to the 88-96 and 97's with 3/8" block fittings.

-10 has larger hoses 5/8" vs 1/2" on the -8 kit

hey Leroy been too busy, got a job painting all the fences on a horse farm with asphalt paint n havent been able to work on my truck anymore but been watching yall and learning. Best I can tell my 6.2 does not have a oil cooler, I was going to put a extra large oil filter on when I change oil so it would hold a extra quart of oil. My question is would I benefit from adding a oil cooler and if so do u sell the whole thing and how much and if I buy it is it a easy mod? Thanks partner this fence job will get me some dollars to get some goodies for the truck. Goin to the Lumber River Trail ride this weekend, its only 15 miles from here but hey we get to c my 6.2 @ a trail ride!

orrum, I am sure yours is like my 6.2, and my dads 92, and you have a water to oil oil cooler, rather than the common oil to air oil cooler that was on most all 6.5Ls. llok for big lines goiung to the left, drivers side tank of the radiator, and those will be your engine oil cooler lines.

Leroy,

This looks like the right stuff for my "new to me" motorhome project that I haven't sent you the pictures for yet.

No pictures yet because I've been busy preparing to retire (no more flattening frogs for snakes). This retirement stuff is stressfull. I think I filled out less paperwork to buy my house. But, I have 1 hour left, then I'm out of here! :) :D

You can install the oil cooler in your truck no problem. If you have the oil to water version you would remove it. You would also need the factory brackets off any 88-2000 truck (gas or diesel) with an oil cooler. Most any junk yard will have them. I might be going to a junk yard this week if you want a set let me know and I'll see what I find.
The -8 kit with cooler is $199.99 The -10 with cooler $210

Send those pics when you can. I believe your fittings are simular to a Hummers??

Hey thanks Leroy but dont get me anything because my money goes toward getting the Walbro and special fittings from u with two sets of filter mount hookups, one pre pump and one post pump and then a transmission cooler and then a oil cooler. Wonder how hot engine oil in a diesel engine gets? Gm has got a lot going on in a 6.2 radiator! If I understand this right then the transmission fluid is cooled inside the radiator and also the engine oil is cooled inside the radiator???? U got some good stuff Leroy!

Oh 4 the record how do I tell which kit I need?

When your ready you will need the same cooler kit like the 6.5s, but you will need to get the brackets (The $199 kit.)

Also FYI the Walbros "should" be available mid July.

Oh Oh I thought u had some. Please save me a Walbro and the conversion fittings please, I will have money without any problem after this wknd. I am going to look @ this Chevy/GMC pickup and tractor trailer truck junkyard for filter mounts and if they dont have them I will get those too. Will the Walbros be a new price?

As far as I know they will be the same price.

I thought the whole point of including the new cooler was that a majority of the time the old one strips upon dissasembly. One improvement I would like to see it a different fitting used at the block. I used a similar kit to what you sell(before you were even selling them) and it used the same fittings at the block and I did not like them. It was difficult to get them at the right angle so's the lines would not rub the 4x4 adaptor. There is no real way to "lock" them in exactly the right spot. You either have to crank them tighter than I feel comfortable doing or not quite tight enough and then they loosen and leak later on. Not knocking your product, in fact I used a similar one not yours but I would like to see a better way at the block. Some sort of fitting that could be clocked the3 way it needs to be then locked down tight...does that make sense ?? I may be wording this poorly.

i know what your saying. i had to cut off the tip of a screwdriver to turn the fittings so they were snug and i couldnt reach with a wrench. its hard cause there brass and they chip easily. but otherwise it was a great product and my fittings do not leak 1.5 years after i installed them

I have not heard of the threads striping out of the OEM cooler. Not saying it has not happend as Im sure it has. The new cooler fittings are just another offering and lowers the price of the kit so if your OEM cooler is in good condition you can just replace the leak prone hoses.
The problem in coming up with some other block fitting would be space considerations, there is barely enough room to get these 90* fittings in there now. A different fitting (all though I can't think what it would be) would be more expensive too.
I've installed a few kits and have real good luck tightening the fittings using a como of regular wrenches and a stubby wrench.

I use 3 wrenches. Regular - long handle and stubby - & a 90 degree/straight That pretty much covers all the angles. I have to use a long handle 15/16 over the end of the wrench for extra leverage
