Hey guys just thought I’d share what I managed to find today from a guy here in my hometown selling on FB. Picked this up today in the hopes of fixing up and painting beige to match for my truck! I’ve been looking online at videos and sites on reinforcing and painting to match. Since there are no exterior cracks on it I’m wondering if it would be worth while to apply a layer or two of fiberglass on the inside just to strengthen it. It has only one top mount screw hole that’s broke out where I think fiberglassing the inside will all me to fix that and not mess with the outside. What’s y’all thoughts

this will most likely be a long project for me since I have other iron in the fire wanting to get done so this one is one added to the list…

Looks to be in nice condition, go for it. For the broken screw hole there are the Rattle Stops, if no longer available they can be made.

3M makes an epoxy that comes in a set of tubes, fits in a caulking gun like affair.
There is a two into one mixer tube that fits onto the dispensing end of the tubes, mixes the epoxy as it squirts it out.
A bit spendy but the stuff really works for plastic repairs.
The DOT had quite a few square body GM trucks, 7000 or so series, even the too kicks, the top corners of the dash units was always busting off. I started fixing the corners with that epoxy stuff, let it cure, use a small die grinder and a sanding disk to get the shape close, a file to finish, drill the screw hole and they would never break out again.
Just an idea.
My friend lives over in Elko Nevada, inner fairing on his harley, screw holes busted out. I told him about that stuff so he got the gun and the epoxy tubes with mixing chambers, he fixed them screw holes and said that they are still holding up under the abuse of that rattling shaking threshing machine.

I will have to look into the rattle stops and the epoxy. since those three screw holes are the only thing holding the top side of the dash from tilting forward and on my current one all three are broke out along with severe cracking going on, I figured before this one does the same it might be a good idea to find something to reinforce it somehow.

this will be a bit before I get there, once I am able to pull the old dash, I have to address the air box issues along with some sound dampening material

my next step for now is to get my old dodge up and going so I can park the Chevy for this adventure plus address some of the steering components. my poor dodge has been sitting under the tree since last winter when that hard freeze hit.
