new here, with a 6.5L Camaro

lol, DTR Party in the next race for president? The EPA would have a cow if a whole crew of diesel enthusiasts entered the white house. (come to think of it it would be white very long with all the smoke we blow... :D:D:D:D)

As for the 6.5 camaro pulling up along side me, chevyinlinnesix and lancerdually I'm with you guys. I would be going nuts.

X2!! Turbo Tahoe.

Cody- again congrats and ur a 6.5'er and u stay here- no mater what the body.

It is time for a REVOLUTION- ATT has kicked off a long needed improvement and u have followed in dismissing the naysayers.

There should be a ton of more performance improvements for the 6.5 for time it has been available. And it should not cost $12-16,000 like for the marine applications.
IIRC there was a 6.5 transplant into a tractor done with Twin Injection Pumps that was years ago and sad nothing ever came of it.
Also Cody, I agree that there should be Common Rail injection pressures or higher on our 6.5 platform.
Check out www.greendieselcorp.com -this I belive is the key to unlocking efficency/power and look at the business plan pdf to see that the actual cost is so cheap! And they have made or working on a 6.5 application.

Rant Done. No Apolgies-just fired up.

Update

If anyone is really interested in a fully hand built 4th Gen Diesel Camaro our team here at LMS is ready to suit you. The only thing holding me back from building more is investment$$$$.

The owner would receive a one of a kind car. Full build sheet, build pictures, and of course a powertrain warranty. Every detail documented.

The car would be set up similarly to the prototype you see here. However, there are options for the buyer.

A donor drivetrain and donor 4th Gen Camaro/Firebird will be hand selected to use for the project. Or if price isn't a concern to the buyer. A brand new GM crate 6.5L Diesel can be used, along with a new 4L80E transmission.

I as the owner of LMS, am very proud of my accomplishment. Now, since gaining the skills throughout the years as a car builder, am confident LMS can provide a very dependable Diesel powered F-body.

Time frame for completing one will be 4 months with the workforce we have now.

Why? It is my dream to provide a different option in the American Muscle scene. This is how I decided to go about that.

There are many innovations already implanted into the current prototype Diesel Camaro. More can be added. Price is the only limit to your options.

I am a young, honest businessman who is looking to fulfill a dream, while wholeheartedly satisfying my customers.

If you have any questions, email me at [email protected]

For a duplicate of this prototype....Starting PRICE $25,000

Paul - I get this ALL the time with the Tahoe - people coming up and saying - STOP STOP! That's the diesel pump!

I just love to show them it REALLY IS a diesel. They seem really incredulous when I pull up. I usually say "can't you hear it? - It IS a diesel"

"No, I didn't do a custom build."
"Yes, it came from the factory as a diesel..."

It will be hard to give the girl up if it ever comes to that. I just love my rig.

-Rob :)
My wife gets it all the time filling the TDI Bug she drives, "hey lady you can't put that in there, or hey lady something is wrong with your engine", I broke down at the TDI site and bought 2 licsence plate frames that say "Yes it's a Diesel"

Cody,

Cool project.

Being a previous Camaro owner I really like the concept.

I had a 78 LT with a 350, and 2.41 in the rearend. Slow to get going, but it would fly. 1st gear - 70mph @ 5K, 2nd gear - 110mph @ 5K and 3rd gear was 135 mph @ 3200 (ran out of HP / torque).

If you get a chance to hit a track and open it up, would love to hear some stat's!

Enjoy,

thanks John, and thanks all for the compliments. here are some updated pics of the car for you guys....

thanks Tom, yeah I didn't like he hood much at first. but I changed my mind after i installed it. :smile5:

operating temp is a steady 180, even moving at just 5 mph. But sitting in traffic for more than 10 min, she'll go up to 200. this is without using the e-fans.

coming to columbus again anytime soon ?

damn, had i known, i would have loved to meet up !!!!
are you coming down again soon ? any chance maybe for red, white & boom tomorrow ???

Yup, there are some twisted eccentric folks in this state. I have to see some under hood shots. I bet you've got a new vocabulary with cuss words...! Hell, turning wrenches on my '93 sometimes makes me wonder why I put myself through the trouble. :D

Cody, that is an awesome Camaro. Maybe I'll catch you on the road or at a show or something.

Nevermind, checked out Yoooutooob. And yeah, you're messed up.

I like the Firebird (?) dash too.

I take it the engine isn't 'stock'. Maybe a Holset turbo? At the REAR?

Maybe you posted this info prior to me just now stumbling upon this thread.

In honor of the last 8,000+ hard miles I share with you these pics. my pride and joy has given me NO issues, never broke down ONCE all those miles. Been my greatest achievement in my life. Time to move on...

She will be up for sale in the near future.

That is simply awesome, and clean too. Maybe you can put a 6.5 in a 89 IROC for me. Thats the body I prefer and larger engine bay.

At least you'll still have the truck to mess with
