New Exhaust For My 93

I like loud, i removed the cat and muffler on my dying 95 1500 and it sounds great but i still want louder.

Is the exhaust louder with the fins toward the engine or toward the rear?

I still plan on putting stacks on but it will have to wait for now its not going to be my DD its a tow rig and I want people to hear a mean 6.5 coming down the road loaded. I am still expecting a crazy sound with the HX on it, and if it isn't loud enough i can always take the silencer ring off.

Big blue, what gears does your 1500 run? Do you have stock programming? Those are great MPG #'s! My 95 only pulled 22 at best but then again it is a bit heavier with the EX cab vs single cab.

My truck was pretty quiet with the stock crossover and down pipe. Once I changed that out and the 4" exhaust it got loud.

I do apologize. I didn't have a chance to take any pictures during the instal or even after I finished. The group I got stuck with this phase in undercar is the most pathetic excuse for auto-technicians that I have ever been around. It took all 6 hours of class time to do the install, then I had work right afterwords. I'll get some pictures after class today and put them up.

The install WOULD have been very easy had I just done it myself. Great quality kit. Very flexible. and plenty of room to add or remove piping for reg cab, ex cab or crew cab trucks. The hangers do appear to have some flexibility to them as far as placement goes so it may work for your 93. And they do provide additional exhaust clamps that don't have the hangers welded to them for everything. I had several left over after being finished. And it looks like the kit is also usable on duallys too. Cause I have about 3" of pipe sticking out past my rear passenger tire  Gotta trim that up tomorrow and maybe add a nice 4" SS tip to finish it all off. Diamond eye uses this "ball joint" as I called it, fitting after the down-pipe that really makes a huge difference in lining everything up. Pretty cool inovation. I wound up putting on my MBRP muffler with the louvers facing backwards and it sounds great  A little louder than I wanted but I'm still very happy. Maybe somewhere down the road I'll flip thye muffler around and see what the difference is.

Bottom line. Top quallity kit, VERY versatile, great sounding, and for the price-there is simply no comparison. Diamond eye and Alligator Performance(vendor here) sure got my vote!

Im running 4'' no muffler and in the cab its decently quiet, but outside it isnt lol. I spend more time in the cab, so it doesnt bother me. I love going under bridges/through tunnels and hitting the throttle. Sounds like an 18 wheeler..

I was down town and the buildings are those old flat front row style buildings. The one biker bar had some guys standing out front. I romped on it and had the heads spinning. For some reason the 6.5 sound likes to echo.

I'll put up a video later on but here are the pics from the install. Like I said, I'm EXTREMELY impressed with the quality of the kit and the service I got from Alligator Performance. I will most defiantly be doing business with them in the future.

Is that hanger at the tail pipe connected to the leaf?

I dont think so, there is arubber hanging off the frame rail right about there iirc on mine. Looks nice! I had to cut my tailpipe shorter to accomodate the 5'' tip! I painted my exhaust pipes and hangers thoroughly with high temp aluminum paint. Its lasting very well so far in the salt belt!

Yah beat me too it blue! lol

Yeah I think I'm going to trim back that pipe some. Not sure on if I want a tip yet. If I got one I'd want 4". I was looking in pepboys today at some of there diesel exhaust tips and they are all like 4" to 5" and 5" to 6". That and they run like 70 bucks a piece! I'll just leave it like that and use some polish on that section of the exhaust to keep it protected and shiny.

A-Hole Muffler tech attached that last hanger to the leaf......Can't see it doing any harm, as it's been there over 2 years......But very shoemaker move.

Im surprised the ebayer who sold you this kit didnt offer up tips. I paid 20 bucks for mine. 4''-5'' chrome slash cut.

I have to fix a little issue with my kit. I think i cut a tad bit too much off the muffler replaced section of pipe, so my tip is real close to my mudflap, which in a way i dont mine because it keeps it tucked close and away from snow banks or getting cought on anything, but it looks a little too close.. Does anyone know of a place that sells 4'' pipe couplers. I have a 4'' section of pipe but i need either a coupler, sor i would just buy a new section of pipe if it isnt too expensive..

wow did they really? What an idiot. Yeah it defiantly doesn't belong there. There is a hanger that belongs there. Here its supposed to be setup:rolleyes5:

Diesel Slug you can try Jegs. They sell 4" stainless steel band clamps that allow you to "butt" the two pieces of pipe together and the band clamps it together really well. I didn't get my kit off ebay I had gotten it from Alligator Performance, a supporting vendor here. Sadly it didn't come with a tip but I'm happy with the way it is.

Thats what my hangers look like, IF you can see it. The flat bed doesnt leave much room and it is too cloudy for my phone to take a decent pic. They look the same but IDK I might be wrong. The truck has had an exhaust in the past few years so maybe they changed to the newer hangers. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!

The kit looks good on your truck I hope it works as well on my cab and chassis, narrower axle dually axle, and big bed all over the place.

I'm looking foward to the video although my HX will sound different.

If you want I'll try and sneak some pictures tomorrow of where all the hangers are on my 95. The biggest thing would be the different lengths for the hangers. I still say that more than likely some of those universal "strap" exhaust hangers may do the job for you since welding seems to be out of the question. I had broken vacuum lines earlier so the turbo wasn't spooling. I went for a drive earlier after a little bit of patch work on the vac. lines and you can kinda hear the turbo spool. I imagine it sounds alot better by the tailpipe. Gotta do the crossover too at some point. Its not rusted to bad, but I know they are double walled and I'm almost afraid to see how bad its hurting my exhaust flow from the drivers side cylinder bank.

I should also point out, that Alligator performance sent me a "thank you for doing business with us" card in the mail too me. I was floored when I got it. Top of the line customer service. I want to call them up tomorrow and send a good thanks to them.

My hangers look alot like what yours do, they bolt to the frame and have a rubber piece hanging from a metal rod. I will compare them a little closer with my 95's but there are 2 hangers preaxle under the bed and one behind the axle.
