I just got my new crossover and down pipe from Summit. The questions are as follows. Should I put the egt sensor in the cross over, in the turbo down pipe or someplace else?

Also I was going to put heat wrap on the down pipe like Ian did his but should I put it on the cross over also?

Thanks!

The thing about heat wrap is it's hard on parts. If the crossover & downpipe aren't stainless, the wrap will likely shorten their lifespan.

Heath's Crossover comes with a nut/bung welded on the crossover, but who says he knows what he's doing......Many have gone with the right side manifold.

In Cali I bet he would be alright though......sure there will still be moisture trapped in there, but at least it's not salt and snow and sleet like up here.

There is a nice little land on the pass ex manifold to drill and Tap. Best place IMHO. I don't think heat wrap is nessicary. I guess if you want it but I wouldn't waste the time or money. Ian is building something that will likley produce alot of heat , most of us daily drivers won't have an issue.

I have had them on both the downpipe and in the x-pipe and found the temp difference between the two is not worth worrying about. The x-pipe is just easier to mount a thermocouple to. Also I only wrapped the small section of downpipe from the turbo to the flange of the new downpipe to reduce under hood temps. I also ceramic coated the part before I wrapped it.

Good luck,

Ian
