New Battery experiences please share

Just to update from the comment I made a few days ago...

This morning, while I'm at work, I get a call from my wife. She can't get her Suburban started after she dropped the kids off at daycare. I leave work and the thermometer in the car reads "2" F. I had to tow her truck to a friend's garage to work on it since both, the truck and his garage are in town and are about 1/2 mile from each other. I hadn't started my truck in 10 days and I didn't have it plugged in. It grumbled a little, but started on the first try. Same batteries I mentioned earlier in this thread. Just sayin'....

The real challenge will come when my CUCV needs them. I have no idea where to get those. It still has the OEM 24yr old Batts in it and they work great.

Your batteries are 6TL's. US Battery makes them so does Interstate at around $200 ea. (the brand you don't care for)

When I lived in CT I bought all my batts direct from a manufacturer in Berlin, CT... RAE Battery. He made up a tar top one labeled "Extra Heavy Duty-All Quality" to fit my '46 Chev cabover dump. I did not believe Roy when he said it will last me 12 years if I take care of it. I had to sell the truck when I moved to the city, batt was 18 years old at the time and still going strong.
I suggest all you guys within easy distance check out RAE Battery for your needs, I drive 2 hours each way when battery time comes around, 'cept I put in Sears Platinum AGM this time (for the performance specs).

well, I had to open my big mouth....:suicide:
One of the 26yr old batts is shot. I have no idea where to get these and anything I find will probably be no where near the quality of the originals...

Guess where I am going monday.

So who makes AutoZone Duralast Batts?......Johnson controls or East Penn, they're supposed to be only 2 or 3 manufacturers that make 80%-90% of all the batts out there. (supposedly they just change labels for the customer they're manufacturing for)

Yeeee-OW! $500? Crapola, I bet now that the ~$200 I saw was for the older generation of batteries, the serviceable ones.
