Need opinions on a good offering price on a clean diesel Sub that's missing parts

he wont tell me a price at all, he made me make the first move, I sent him an e-mail last night with a offer of 350-750, depending on if the radiator, turbo system, or hitch goes with it.

well, he took the 750 for everything but the injection system, and the d-max alloys had not been paid for by the guy that spoke for them, so I got them for an additional 250 with fair tires, and it will be delivered to the family farm 100 miles away for 100 bucks. basically it is on a buddys trailer, so he will get the injection system, and then truck it down and kick er off the trailer.

the one downside is that there isnt any more news about the title, but he said that he would give a partial refund, or take it back and give a full refund if it doesnt come through. we put half down, and the other half will be paid on delivery.

I know, a little much, but find me a clean 2wd diesel burb! :) I figure when offered the chance, I better take it.

the title never accompanied the sub to the salvage yard. the Original owners apparently thought there was no chance of ressurection. I do feel confident that there is a decent chance of applying for a lost title, if he cant get the title.

Good deal!

Lost salvage title, no problem. Present a running vehicle for inspection, pay some money, post a bond, about $100.00 from an insurance bond company and you should be able to do it in AZ at least. Bunch of red tape, but, not a show stopper. You may even contact the owner on record and ask for the title, here you are required to send them a letter.

Supposedly the title is still good and clean, as the original owners still have it. They never gave it to the salvage yard.

OK! I figure I better give you folks an update.

earlier this week, he called and said he was coming to the family farm (I think buddy needed trailer back) he forgot title in Boise, but said that he would mail it here, we could inspect it, and then send him the money. he ended up getting the injectors pulled, but not the IP. So I got to do that.

anyways, I did end up getting a radiator with it, and the trans, so I guess it is bolted together for the most part (radiator and hitch are in the back cargo area)

so: missing the alt and alt. harness, airbox (was going to get a K47 anyway) and the doorhandle are all that are missing

1100 delivered to the farm

dad said he got the title at home today, and it appears clean, and it is signed over, and it has a eagle watermark, and looks all official and is clean, (no salvage!)

so I guess it all ended well, and I will be sending a check for the final half tomorrow!

dumb question on my part.. But did you do a carfax on it.. Would it not show up on carfax if it was salvaged. In Quebec if a car is salvaged its a nightmare to get re registered. You have to show up with proof of parts purchased for it and pictures of the build, Then you have the pleasure of going to through a rigorous vehicle inspection, for which you can fail if your lights are not well adjusted..

It blew the engine, it was sold by the owner to a junkyard, and then to the last owner whom bought it for parts. the title never accompanied it. To my knowledge, the owners just left it in the desk, and the salvage yard never asked for it. The last owner contaacted the first owner via the salvage yard and got the title back.

another possibility is the salvage yard told the owners to throw it away, and the last owner got them to apply for a lost title.

In the end, it was and still is a clean title. In the eyes of the govt, nothing happened.

Luckily we dont have near the issues getting a rig put back together and registered. no emissions either in KS!
