"Question #2... Does the MAP influence the ECM to add fuel as the pressure goes up? I know on my 91 Dodge (mechanical F/P and mechanical injectors), the pressure from the turbo directly affects the amount of fuel the IP dispenses."

Its been a long time since Ive even looked at the MAP, but I don't think its even hooked up to the engine is it?
The amount of fuel IP puts out determines the turbo's out put/boost.

Welcome to TTS, got pictures of your truck?
Clarifying myself. I was thinking of the firewall mounted sensor when OP said "map". I think its just a barometer??

Yea.. you're right. I did miss the point... I stand corrected. I thought they were just showing off how fast their truck was... Explains why no one else pointed it out.. lol

As far as the '91 Dodge Cummins 5.9 that I own... I had that injector pump all apart and I did not see no "aneroid". I saw a diaphram acting on a fuel pin.

That is an aneroid. An aneroid is a diaphram actuated fuel limiting valve, but is called an aneroid for short.

Okay then. Question... What makes some turbos whine (spool up?) and others not? I can hear my Suburban's turbo when in heavy traffic or alongside a fence or other barrier... the Sierra I cannot hear at all. I notice in looking at turbos on line that there is a difference in the 1995 and the 1996. What is that difference? Will one fit the other? Is it an output thing? Is one better that the other? Just random thoughts. Thanks, R. Barrett

The turbos on the 6.5 stock really aren't that loud. Some you hear, some you don't. If there is anything wrong in the boost system, then your not going to hear it. Exhaust also plays a role in it. After putting on my BANKS exhaust, the exhaust sound covered up most of the turbo sound except for when I was really in it.
