While pulling my injectors I have found that two of the copper washers/seals have seated themselves quite nicely inside the injector bores; they're wedged in there pretty good. Is there anyway of getting them out without pulling the heads and knocking them out? Can't feel any edge to pry out on so that's out of the question and the surfaces on them have been roughed up by a scribe trying to see if they would move with one of those. Nada. Any ideas?

They're just soft copper - a very sharp small chisel and some very sharp finesse will resolve the issue...............

And don't even think of trying to leave 'em there... pal of mine tried that. Didn't work so good. His were on #6 and #8, so they were NOT fun to re-do.

Would think with Glowplug removed, shop vac and compressed air and small pics you should be able to manipulate air flow inside enough to work the piece out, or enough to grab at it without head removal.

Spray them down with WD-40 to break the carbon loose and use an o-ring pick to get them out. As mentioned, they are soft copper and you should be able to grab them fairly easily. Where in Raleigh are you? I'm in Wake Forest.

Well we tried a scribe that was dental pic like and all it did was mar the surface. Haven't tried soaking them yet, I'll do that tomorrow after work. #6 and #8, I think those are the two that mine are stuck in (passenger side rear most and 2nd from the front?).

Not actually Raleigh. I'm just about 5 minutes outside Rolesville near Fowlers Crossroads.

I know where Fowlers Crossroads is. I grew up in Wendell and that area was my stomping ground. Getting them soaked in WD-40 (or something similar) should break up the carbon and allow them to pop free. If you need any help, let me know and I'll come out and give you a hand.

Almost forgot last night but I sprayed them down in some PB. After work today I'll give it a shot and hope for the best.

Yep, been in the same spot since I was 2...not much has changed in that immediate area. 'Preciate the offer, I'll keep it in mind.

Bah that sucks, 3 weeks ago I was still getting my Thunderbird back together which is what pushed this into play; having something else to drive while I'm doing/waiting for injectors.

What year Thunderbird?

I have a '67 Mercury Cougar that I am doing a ground up on. As Turbine Doc can attest, I am a certifiable car nut. Right now, I have a '71 MG-BGT in the garage that I am restoring and just got running and am wrapping up the body work.

91 LX w/ 89 Supercoupe drivetrain ( :D ) Nothing like a supercharged 3.8 V6 5spd in a light(er) LX body. Fuuuuuun time!

You're not the only car nut. Waiting for a few things to get out of the way and some more funds so I can start on my '87 442 project car....................................I love my Oldsmobile.

Woot! Back together. Had a ground strap (wire....not heavy enough) problem last night so I didn't get it started. Used a 14" 4-gauge I got from work and no more problem. Runs great. After driving the 'Bird for the past couple weeks it's hard to tell if there's any power improvement or not (rebuilt factory units with Herzog hi-pop nozzles); dad said there was after I passed a vehicle on the way home from church tonight. However power does seem to be smoother and the exhaust seems to be stronger with a stronger sounding turbo whistle.

Aaaaahhhhhhhh, so nice to be driving the 'Burb again.):h
