need help with GMC / Chevy rear differential

The junkyards around here in Jersey are VERY strict. Mainly because of insurance. Last time I checked there is only 1 junkyard in Jersey that allows you to go and pull your own stuff. Blaceys on Monmouth road. The place is only 20 minutes from me so if you want, When I'm back in Jersey I'll take a ride down there and let you know what I find. I bring him alot of business so he treats me well when it comes to price. Or, depending on where you are located, you can go look:

Blacey's U-Pick Auto Parts

* (609) 758-1919

242 Monmouth Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562

Schedule wise right now I can go December 14th if you don't happen to find anything near you before that. I take it rebuilding the diff yourself isn't sounding like a good idea right now?

Hey man! You would do that for me? Wow! You are cool. Not your typical Jerzee boy. Well, I found one about 50 miles away for $450. GT4 GU8 posi. He said 90 day warranty. I think thats a good deal. I am definately going to rebuild mine. I just can't afford to mess it up. I need to do this quick. The 4x4 pirate article strongly suggests that I remove it from the vehicle anyway. And since I would be working on the ground in my driveway, I think it's a good idea. My wifes burb is in really nice shape and I don't plan on getting rid of it. So, I'm going to throw a junkyard unit in there and rebuild mine. This way I can take my time and do it right. I'm actually looking forward to rebuilding it. Yah, our upull it yards are to strict. I have one close by, but you can't jack up any cars, so you have to pay top dollar for them to remove the parts underneath for you. There is another close by that will use a monster forklift and they will stack the vehicle up on old steel rims that they weld together for that porpuse. However, they charge you to do this. And no garauntees that what your're pulling is good. I wish our upull it had half off day! That's to funny. Everything is so expensive in Jersey, the yards have no choice but to charge what they do. My job takes me up and down the East Coast, and the only thing Jersey has cheaper is the gas?? And self serve is illegal here. I don't get this place sometimes. COFFEE

I've had several members here do the same for me. Even when I was out of state having trouble. These are a really great bunch of guys, so when there's a member in need I do my best to throw a helping hand in there.

Blacey's is by far my favorite. There is a $1 dollar entrance fee, and you can do as you please in there. They just don't allow torches. The owner knows pretty well what works and doesn't work and if he's not sure he usually will strike you a decent deal on it. I go my Kingpin Dana 60 front axle for $300 and the Eaton HO72 rear I wanted he was also going to give me for $300. So something much smaller I could probably talk him down to like $275 - $250 range. Rears usually aren't something to go bad on a stock rig. Just change your fluids and do the seals as they start to leak. But $450 for one 50 miles away doesn't sound too bad, especially with a 90 day warranty on it. If you haven't gotten one by the time I'm home I have nothing against playing around in the junkyard for a little bit :evil:
