I have a 2005 Chevy 2500 lly duramax, and I was wondering if anyone can help me by giving me a diagram or give me a step by step tutorial for a smoke switch. I'm not trying to give diesels a bad name. I'm just wanting it for show. I know it throws a code at first but when you turn the switch off then the code goes away. I'm not on here to piss anyone off. I would also appreciate it if people do not like this post then they keep scrolling. Like I said its not to smoke anyone out its for show so keep the negative comments left out, thanks

Welcome colt. Gotta tell you though that the adult diesel community now looks way down on the smoke show thing because of much negative response by the EPA (probably for good reason) and subsequent cracking down on tuning software companies. We all used to think it was kinda cool but that attitude is rare any more

Best way to make smoke is on the dyno rollers (or track) while putting down some good numbers.

Good numbers and smoke often do not go hand in hand especially with what a stock truck is capable of.

To the op good luck. You are not going to find anyone who will help you on most sites. Obviously you want it to show off somewhere to someone and thats the issue and the reason nobody will make it for you. Im not judging you as a person, weve all been through the same phase but unfortunately it has hurt us as a sport. Its not that we dont trust you its that we all know how peer pressure works. When people are riding with you theyll always want to see it and while you are not intentionally trying to piss someone off if the wrong person sees you it can make things worse for us as a whole. Theres also the fact we don't know you and maybe you are just feeding a line of BS to us. The hardcore enthusiasts in this sport have been a close knit family for a long time and dont want things ruined anymore than they are.

Sorry but you arent going to get any help here however you will get the respect of not being flamed at least. Other sitea are not aa friendly.

Colt welcome to TTS. My thoughts would echo the previous posts. Keep it clean on the mean streets. Clean and mean.

If the sound of a straight piped dmax doesn't impress your buddies then you need new friends. I only leave a puff that trails into a haze, it's awesome and sounds even better.

If you want smoke, get a tune, but yeah, I agree. Our 05 smokes a bit with a Diablo tune, but it's not much, and can be annoying. Black smoke = wasted fuel & wasted power.

Which is more impressive, the truck puffing out black smoke and doing a short burnout, or the truck with a short puff that just did a donut around ol smokey?

Lots of smoke is just wasted fuel, get it tuned and upgrade your air along with the fuel. Your engine will thank you as well

You're not gonna get much Help for a Smoke Switch here, no matter what it's for..."Show" or not, it gives Diesels a bad name. You're not going to Impress anyone, unless the Crowd is a bunch of High School Kids.

I don't recommend this, but if you want your Truck to Smoke, put a Plastic Bag over your Air Filter or Unhook your Intercooler Tubes. Then it'll Smoke like a Freight Train.

I'll put it this way, people that offer their Paid Services to Custom Build you any Tune you want with EFI Live, won't even Build Smoke Tunes. So...you can't even PAY someone to make you a Smoke Tune.

My truck has plenty of power, I'm pushing around 700hp my problem is I love thtunes I have now and do not really want to change them. The plan for the smoke switch is not to smoke anyone out or anything like that, I have the power I'll just speed up. But at our local mud runs you can bring your show trucks and they give cash prizes for biggest, loudest, nicest, most power and most smoke. That's all I want it for

^^^^^ This ^^^^^ You're gonna have to accept what's been said. We're grown up at this site and polite. Others will tear you a new one over your request.

Oh BTW... 700 hp? Please explain more

X2. takes a lot of work to hit that number, someone who actually hit it wouldn't want a smoke switch but would possess the knowledge to make one.

The type of gathering he references sounds like the exact reason these things are going away in the mainstream world but multiplying overnight due to line breeding.

Okay you got my one flame, dont make us throw more.

At 700 hp I'd think a truck would smoke just fine.

At that hp you would have a big turbo or twins and a pretty wicked cp3 or dual cp3.
