Need help from Canadian 6.5'ers

interesting. i avoid lordco like the plague. always found them to charge way more than anyone else. i use action parts almost exclusively. they were checking into the timing gears for me.

as for the timing. how much difference would there be in timing between a new(er) chain and gears? enough to notice?

might have to check with them anyways. maybe their prices aren't so high anymore. if i could get the studs for $300, it would be cheaper than using heath. i doubt the scat crank would be much cheaper. heath wants $460 american. we bought a used crank last year and it was close to $600 from Pendozi. if i can afford it, i would like to give my business to the smaller guys. being a small business owner, i understand about losing out to the bigger guys due to small price differences.

lordco has its faults but i get a massive discount on things.

i paid about 750 cad for my scat crank. which is about the same as heath when you consider shipping, brokerage, exchange rate, taxes etc.

i have two good used cranks if you need one lol.

was that with your discount? cause if you have that with your discount, it would probably be cheaper for me to go with heath for sure

just checked my receipts. paid 245 CAD for a new cloyes double roller timing chain setup.

kennedy offers a phazer gear drive set 400 USD for mech injected, 475 USD for electronic injected engines.

i don't know who else offers them but if you can find a gear drive set for around 300 CAD let me know:D. 475 USD plus shipping, taxes, brokerage, exhange rate etc is just way to rich for my blood when compared to a chain drive...

also checked the reciept for the SCAT crank and i didnt get any discount on it 715 plus tax. they dont discount oils, special order, and some odd parts. and fyi when i checked they had a few of these cranks in stock in Vancouver so they are quick to get. 1-2 days.

thanks for the info on the crank. now i have an idea what i am looking at for price. there isn't a real rush on. i have so many projects on the go as is. i would like to get the main studs and crank put in by the shop that will be doing the cleaning and honing. Pendozi Machine Shops has a really good name locally. I figure to do it all at once.

what are they all doing on it and what are they charging?

i haven't personally dealt with them, but a good friend had them help build his 454 to 496 BB for his 1970 SB. ):h He was very happy with them.

my original quote was for: hot tank(done), bore and hone the cylinders, deck the block, and balance the rotating assembly. that was 750 CAD.

don't need the block decked apparently though.

they are also are doing a magnaflux (already done: perfect bill of health:D), installing freeze plugs, and installing cam bearings. i think this was around 100 bucks total.

I'm going to have them check if i need to have a line hone done- doubt i will though.

My dad had them do his 455 Rocket as well. good work.

I bought my headstuds from Bill.....I live 20 minutes away from Diesel Services Group and I would still prefer to wait a couple of days for a shipment from the States than to deal with DSG's completely moronic sales staff.

Shop on ebay and have the items shipped Fedex Or USPS

As long as you buy wise and know what you are buying its a snap.

Bought a complete "NEW" set of Zollner pistons for my current 6.5 build.
Cost me $200 to the door for all including shipping.

Just a thought.
