Hey All,

In the market for a new torque wrench. We have an old beam type (Dad's) that works great, but I miss the convenience of my click type, which was retired due to a broken spring.

Should I get a Matco, Mac, or a Craftsman??

They're all probably from the same manufacturer so whichever is cheapest of the major brands. Likely Craftsman.

Snap-on and Craftsman are 1 and the same with a different name. I believe there are several others with different names on them.
The old needle type were all made be Studevant as an example.

You get what you pay for though...

The snap-on and craftsman arent the same.

For the occasional user, the craftsmans are nice.

The Precision Split Beam is my favorite torque wrench. Indestructable, dont reset to zero, always holds calibration, fast to set. Precision used to make a lot of Snap-Ons torque wrenchs.

I Have All Snap-On Digital Tech Wrenches with Angle. if it wasnt for the digital angle I would probably just have regular click type because I prefer the click type.

Oooohhh that digital angle must be nice for the newer stuff. If I did a lot of work on new engines with TTY fasteners I'd be all over that.

I can torque heads on a dmax in less than half the time as before, wrestling the old style manual gauges.
