Every Morning when I Start my Truck and put it in Reverse, and the Truck Starts to Move, I get a Nasty Clunk from the Front Driver Side Area. I can Feel it in the Floor. It kind of just Started Happening when I got the MA Motor Mounts Installed, but everything has been Checked with them, and they are Tight.

Anyways, I would only get this Sound that 1 Time in the Morning and that was it. Now I am getting it More Often. The Truck still Drives & Stops Straight, Steering Feels Good, ect... just there is a Nasty Clunk.

Any Ideas of where to Start Looking?

I have the Cognito Tie Rods, which is what I'm Suspecting, because they are total Trash and Fail VERY Easily from what I've Read. I also have Cognito UCA's, but they Use Moog Ball Joints, and those are supposed to be Good, right?

I'm gonna Pull the Wheel Off Tomorrow and See if I can Find anything.

If it does Turn Out to be the Tie Rods, what Brand should I go with? I was Thinking Rare Parts or Kryptonite. I think I still have the OE Tie Rods too. Should I just get those Re-Installed and Sleeve them?

The clunk occurs by simply putting it in reverse or when it starts moving? I'm assuming when it starts moving. I would check U joints on front driveshaft. Or maybe CV axle.

Nope, it's def. not Trans Related. If I make a Left Turn, and I Yank the Wheel Quick, I can get it to Clunk now.

Check your T-Bars and stabilizer links.

I Checked those a while ago, I thought that's what it coulda been too. I Soaked each End of them with WD Overnight, but that didn't do anything.

Should I Check them for Cracks or anything?

Back to the basics James. What do the bearing hubs do if you grab the jacked up wheel at 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock and try to shake it to and fro? And what happens at 3 and 6?

Just Checked. Everything is Nice & Tight. Only a few MM of Movement from the Centerlink. Put Driver Side Down and Lifted Pass Side, same thing.

this will sound stupid but,,ck you front brake pads and calipers,if there worn 1/2 way the calipers will rattle, clean and lube the slides,

I will jump in with an 2005 doing this - just once on turning sounds like a scrape then thud. Can't find anything.

Ok, I Thought the Noise was coming from Shot Tie Rods.

Got New ones Installed Today, Clunk is still there. :(

What's everyone's Next Guess??

Ball Joints?

Torsion Bars? Did you crank them up to gain a little lift? Maybe loose or something, but I am also guessing.

Ball joints are easy to diagnose. Jack up the truck and place your hands at the top and bottom (12 o'clock and 6 o'clock) of the wheel and push and pull (tilting the wheel), if they are bad, there will be a lot of excess play or movement up and down.

That's also an indicator for the bearing hubs which are worth checking every time the truck is on stands.

Well, got 1 Rattle / Clunk to go Away. I knew 1 of them was the Calipers. Got New Slide Pins, but it was too Cold to Install them.

First one I did was the Driver Side. Pulled the Pins, there was NO Rubber Bushing in there for the Pin to Sit In. Put In the Bushing, put it all back together, no more Brake Rattle / Clunk.

I thought this was also my Main Clunk Sound because during the Test Drive, it didn't Clunk once. So I was REALLY Happy, but...that was Short Lived. As soon as I Pulled In my Driveway, THUNK.

But...atleast the Brake Rattle is gone.

Did the Wheel Shake Test a Week or 2 ago. Everything is Good. So I guess it's not Ball Joints.

I'm gonna Start Moving to the Rear now. Crossmember Area and around there. It's def. a Binding kind of Pop though. I can Feel it Lightly in the Floor with my Feet, can't Feel it in the Steering Wheel. It's not a Hard Hit in the Floor, just enough that you can Feel it.
