My truck is trouble. code BOMB

Whitch is the IP filter harness. The one by the optical sensor. How will the truck run without it.

yes, just unplug it and plug the harness into the OS plug, should run just fine, it's just there for radio frequency suppression.

I took the filter harness out and I could feel a difference in throttle respose. I am not saying that may be the main cause but there is something wrong with it. It looks like I gained like 20hp. accelarates alot smoother. My fuel millage has been going down so hopefully if I buy a new harness filter it will go back up.

Either alternators have gotten better, or the PCM and OS are less sensitive than GM thought because you dont need the filter in most cases. Could be that having enough good grounding points has proved to help. I and most people dont have the filter anymore.

RFI - Radio Frequency Interference
EMI - EloctroMagnetic Interference

Caused by spinning motors and electrical current passing through cables and inducing a field onto other wires. So our engine environment aint too bad I guess.

Thanks for the reply budy.

I guess for now I will keep on running the truck as it is without the filter. The filter wires were covered in oil and didnt look to healthy. If it stalls down the road i'll know it is most likely something else so I will see what happens.

thanks for your help everybody.

The big reason for the filter was to protect the ECM.. the newer OBD-II ECMs have the filter built-in (and still, some of THEM came with a filter harness, even though they supposedly didn't need one. Go figure, eh?)

Could be just another way for GM to scam more money from people. You never no nowadays. :nonod:

Well I thought I had my problem fixed but then I started to get fuel shutoff solinoid codes and 35 36 57 and a few I cant remeber. Started the truck up ran good then sputtered and stalled. Started right up and then I left it running and went hunting for conections. I got my hand behind the IP under the manifold (still dont know how) and played with a few wires. I wiggled them around and made the truck stall. Started it up and fooled around with the wires and stall again.

Now whenever I have time I will take the intake manifold off and take the harness out as I know forsure that thats were the problom lies.

Is there any place to get a totally brand new harness for under there.
