My snotty stocking experience

may be a dumb question - but do you have to drop the tank to change the sock? I'm going to check the fuel pressure before worrying about it too much, though.

Well guess what guys? I'm ordering a new tank tonight from Rock Auto. The new sock started plugging again. My tank must be getting brutal on the inside.

It could be your fuel source and not the tank. I'd drop it and check it first.

I saw it when I had it out earlier (tank lining was flaking off). I just didn't have time to wait for a new tank to be shipped. I thought I could get away with cutting a few slashes in the sock. I was wrong.

Well I just opened the box and looked at the tank. It looks very well made and it was either galvanized or coated, inside and out. My one bitch is that there is no baffle in the tank where the pickup is going to sit. It was made in Canada BTW.

My napa replacement tank last year no baffle either.

My FSU from rock auto for rear tank had Gasoline sock, as did my NAPA FSU for front tank....

The plastic auxiliary tank in my truck (OEM?? no idea) has no baffle either...

Baffling....:)

With a diesel especially, should always stay on top of fuel level... Or any vehicle....

Actually, they were both spectra IIRC... just rockauto was 50bux cheaper on the sender.

My bitch about the lack of a baffle turned out to have some merit. I ran the tank down to about 6 gallons and the pickup pulled in a little bit of air. You can tell with a Walbro because it will click more than once during the wait to start cycle when there is air in the fuel manager. It didn't pull in a lot but it must have pulled in some air when the tank was low, right before I filled it. Just thought I'd keep everyone informed.

That happens to me also, my truck usually hiccups, and recovers in limp mode throwing PO251 and PO370 I think thats the 2nd one.

That makes me know I need fuel fast. I always keep 10+ Gallons on the bed so no biggy to me, but I have no baffle either. Most I've ever pumped into my 22 gallon tank is around 18 or so gallons.... I gues its good in the fact that you'll never suck up the cruddy of the crud, but with a LP Prefilter I would rather take it all in so it goes in the filter where it belongs. Or in the water bowll, where it drains out harmlessly.

No, but pulling the bed is harder... :D

Them Arizona boys have NO CLUE what its like wrenching on salt belted vehicles... They think Rust is a paint color!):h

Rust is what makes my hands smooth while working on my truck. My g/f doesn't know that my hands are soft from working on my truck, haha. Which reminds me...I better get a tetanus shot sometime soon, haha - especially since I have holes on both sides of my truck, haha.
