My Shop

Quite a few years ago.
Step son was incarcerated at Shelby. I was not on his register list but Vicki thought I’d be able to get in to visit him.
Nothing doing. I could not get in.
Took a drive over to Cut Bank and hit a Saturday morning rubbish sale.
Lots of time to spare so headed north and then, well why not, Canada is not that far.
Got to the border crossing, figured I’d go through, turn around and come back out.
At the building was this sign, wait until clear. Okay, what do they think that I’m going to drive over the vehicle ahead of Me.
After some time the vehicle ahead of Me moves on.
The attendant/guard or whatever he was was in a real pissed off mood by then.
Cant You read ? Uhhhhh, yeah I can read, what did that sign back there say ? I dont remember. It said wait until clear. Told Him I did wait until clear.
He said, really really pissed off by then, You are suppose to wait back there until clear. 🤷 Told Him it didnt say wait here until clear. His face got even more red but I hope that they did put some clarification on their sign.
Then it was the usual, do You have anything to declare. Told Him no I sure dont. I had forgot about that one can short of a six pack of NA beer Vicki had put in the trunk. Told Him I came over to cross the border, turn around in that parking lot and go back the way I came so I could at least say I had been to Canada. He had My drivers license, where are You from, told Him, how many years You live there, all My life. He then told Me, You go to that parking lot and turn around and dont You try going any farther.
I then began to wonder if all Canadians were such pricks as this @ss hole but on My next trip when I and Vicki went to Calgary it was a different guard and the sign had not been changed but I warned Vicki to not go any farther beyond that sign until the next vehicle moves.
And, the people that now own the family homestead place west of Rimby was some of the most welcoming and kind people to ever be met.
