Missy and DaHoooley, the SAGA continues

I don't know what the block heaters cost, but if not too much I'd agree that now is the time for dual heaters. I'm all for planning ahead, but even the first heater would probably never get used here in the Valley. For me, I like to hunt Eastern Oregon and my original heater doesn't work, which is OK for deer season. I guess I should check into it to see what would be needed to get in there to replace it. If I was ever able to do the second season elk hunt again a good block heater would be a good backup, if you had a portable generator in hunting camp.

Yess Jim, I do understand the dual heater thingy :)

Around here the temps don't normally get into the "Brass Monkey" zone though.

Back in the winter of 2008 we had 2 weeks of heavy snow and bitter cold and were running the 94 Burb every day.

Temps were in the low teens to high single digits at night and I never once plugged the Burb into the power cord.

It would start right off Cold really well, Just let the glow light go off, spin the engine and BRAAAAAAAAAAAP RATTTTTTTTTLE RRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTLE its was enough to make a powerstroke blush.

Not once during that cold did the Burb ever complain.

I am just going to use the single stock type heater in this one.

That will suffice in the temps that we may see. Now if I lived in a place that saw -20 or so, Yeah buddy, definately go for twin heaters.

I have a 1500 watt heater on the Cat in the big rig and I plug it in every night round the seasons.

This is a major wear and tare saving thing. Keeping the engine warm at all times saves big $$$ and down time over the long haul.

Thanks

Missy

Well the summer has come to a close and the DaHoooley's new engine is complete and sitting on the stand in the shop.

The weather has closed in and the rains are here, so working outside is going to be sketchy from now on.

The kid's motorhome is still in the shop buildings only large stall so I am up against the wall here.

If we get the motorhome fixed and out of the shop then DaHooooley can go in there for the winter.

Sooooo depending, the project may have to wait until next spring to get going.

I am sad about this, but at least the engine is all ready to go.

I just dont want to have to hurry to try and get it in the rig and not be able to pay attention to detail.

Missy

:rolleyes5: Truck is 100x more useful than a motorhome...

MGW ya never know about the weather, maybe you'll catch a break.

The jet stream is like a teeter-totter this time of year. We are enjoying carbon copy beautiful weather days here in the east. The 'jet' won't favor us too much longer here I'm sure.

The New Yellow Motor is sitting in the shop on the stand and ready to go in as soon as the weaqther is much drier and far warmer.

Probably starting a <Projects/TrustySubs new Engine> (for ex) thread on it would be great. That way we all wont get confused about which project is what.

Well now.

A long overdue update here.
The truck is still sitting, and the new engine is sitting on the stand in the shop.

In late May of 2012 I was diagnosed with a large kidney tumor and needed surgery to remove the kidney.

Summer drug on with various set backs and still trying to work the big rig too.
Come late August things were all set to go on getting the new engine back into the Dahoooooley but disaster struck on the 29th of August, as I suffered a stroke and landed in the hospital.

Luckily the stroke was not severe, but it messed up my right arm/hand some and spelled an end to my trucking career.

I have spent the last 7 months trying to get back up to speed, but its been a slow go.

Currently I am getting ready to have surgery to get rid of that bad left kidney. Surgery is on April 1 2013

The current plan is to try and get the Dahooooley back together this summer.

Surgery will no doubt kick my butt some, but with the help of a few friends and family, the Dahoooooley may ride again.

Not much more to say for now.

Best

Missy

April 1st, Monday, tomorrow, WOW. Thanks for the update! You will be in my prayers.

Will this be in the hospital at Newberg, or in Portland? I know someone who works in maintenance on the night shift there in Newberg. His name is Wes. I think his shift is Saturday through Wed nights.

Please keep us updated on your progress. We care!
