Hi guys, wondered if any of you have encountered this problem.
I have a trek pathmaker 24 with GM6.5t. On a cold start there is no problem but drive it just a mile or so and switch off, when you start back up it is a rough start but does crack up eventually then the service engine soon light comes on, runs like a pig after that, there is an evident misfire, cant stay in top gear as power loss is that bad, occasionally cuts out which isn't nice, stopping and restarting sometimes seems to clear it up, sometimes not. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have no code reader, just getting the light saying service engine soon. I am a newbie to all this, I guess I need to take it in somewhere, just kinda hoped someone would recognize the symptoms.

Hi again guys, here's today's developments.
Havn't mentioned that I am touring Europe here and getting a code read is proving to be a nightmare, maybe one of you kind souls could put me in touch with someone over your side of the pond who I could buy a code reader for betty bus, the readers over here have a different fitting and cannot connect. However, scrolling through the net I have learned that shorting the two top left pins of the port makes the service light flash to give limited info, not exactly Morse code but as I am counting the flashes I am reading it as (13) flash space followed by three flashes. I don't suppose this means anything to anyone? Thanks for the advice so far, so needed and appreciated by a daft Brit limping around Europe in winter!!

Here is a URL to read & reset the codes (presuming your system acts like an OBD-I):

The list of codes are here:

A 13 flash is:
DTC 13 - Engine Shutoff Solenoid Circuit Fault

Not sure this is helpful though but might provide a clue.

Consider resetting the code and see if it comes back.

Forgot that you are probably OBD-I with the '95 Trek, so a code reader is likely not worth the purchase seeing as it will flash the codes.

If there is one thing I *do* remember (most of the time), it is to check the list first to avoid ending up with foot-in-mouth-itis :D:D:D

Find the fuse for the fuel shut off solenoid, shine the fuse spades up with emory cloth or sand paper.

So since your obd1 I'd start by putting a piece of clear tubing in place of the rubber hose on the return line coming out of the IP. This allows you to check for air when your having issues. A summing this is the same as the trucks you might have an OPS issue. Oil Pressure Sender controls the LP. If the Lift Pump isn't working and your IP is getting older it would cause those symptoms. Also verify your LP itself hasn't failed.

Hi guys, thanks again for your responses, it does seem to be reading DTC 13 - ''Engine Shutoff Solenoid Circuit Fault''
Just hoping now that someone can translate that to stupid for me??

Thor, like mentioned above, remove the fuse for that circuit. Clean the contacts on the fuse itself, and if possible it's mounting tab also.

Also get a 1/4" diameter (6.35 mm) clear hose on the return out the front for diagnostic.

Do you have a DS4 injection pump, or a DB2? If you dont know, post a picture of it.

Do you have a bleed/water in fuel drain from the fuel filter housing?

thanks everyone, you have given me something to look for, it is dark and about -1 at the minute so I will get back on it in the morning, in the night for you guys. Thanks again

Thanks guys, took my time getting back because we have been pretty much snow'd and frozen in, thawed out a bit today so got on it, found the fuse, it looked a bit dodgy cheap crap dodgy, pulled on it just came apart in my fingers, swapped it and went for a drive, drove about 50 miles with a few stops n starts without a problem, hopefully that cracked it. Thank you so much, saved me a fortune I am sure. Right, back to that without a problem bit.... No engine issues, on my way back into camp. a bloody great big post jumped out and smacked my Betty right in the storage box door. (thats my story and i'm sticking to it). I did a bit of a number on the locker door. Is this something I can order from online your side and have posted over into Europe? Do any of you helpful chaps know of anywhere? Somehow I have this vision of Kevin Costner running up the road on a horse holding out my door panel for me to grab but I don't think it will work out that way, trying to keep costs down so probably choose standard delivery! Big thanks again, great forum with a good bunch of folk.

So the English to American translation goes:
Boot= trunk
Bonnet= hood
What is a locker?
While I'm at it - what is a trek path maker 24? The rv?
Pics?

Will I'm sorry mate but I am as stuffed as you. I have the hood and trunk but I'll be buggered if I know what you would call the storage locker, but any how, it's the hatch door just behind the front wheel on the picture.

Oh! We just call it cargo bay, but storage locker makes sense. I wasn't sure if you had a truck, rv, or what. sorry about that. Im not much on rv's.
Darn jumping post!
