Well I took a road trip today drove a little over 500 miles. Got the best mileage I ever have on #1. Got 17 mpg. Wasn't just a flat road either got into some 7% grades. Probably had about 250 miles of pretty easy driving and about 150 miles of hills, ice, twisty windy 35-45 mph. Picked up a wood cook stove for my house weighs approx 400 lbs. One thing I did notice is that my egts and boost won't go as high as they will on #2. Overall I am pleased. Now just need to get my tranny fixed.

17 mpg on #1 is pretty good, ak...

Post us up a pic of that wood cookstove. I love those things - lots of happy winter-morning memories there!

It is a lot of hills here, and with 3.42 gears my truck doesnt like them. I cant seem to get the thing to get over 15 mpg's! Kinda disappointed....

There really isnt anything that needs to be broken in tho. The bottom end is all original internal wise.... Ive got about 700 miles on it so far. Hope it get better, but then again winter is coming...

You need an ATT diesel slug :D That thing will be your best friend in the hills... and generally anywhere else.

thats my problem that i have with 3.42 gears. i got a heavy right foot and i dont go on the highway enough to use them. i would probably get better mileage with 3.73s in town and towing.

Yeah, ummm, yeah.....:D JK, actually i have been real nice to it, i was trying to get good mileage right out of the box. However the other day a loud gasser 350 pulled up next to me acting like he was all bad ass. So i let the smoke roll, spun pretty good, i need to rebuild my rear end, it is starting to one wheel peel now. THe clutches or something need rebulding. Im going to have someone rebuild it next year. But any who i had him, but i let off before he did, cant afford to get any type of ticket right now..... Im pretty sure its the hills and gears, amd stop and go city driving to get to college. I dont hit a single freeway during my weeks travels....

Could be, my one rear pass side tire will lock up on gravel and in wetness, i really dont know how to adjust them on this truck? Kinda dangerous, realy should get it fixed...
