I am thinking of getting this system for a 2006 LLY dmax when i get it, is there any probs i need to know about this system,I would get the 4" but the 5" looks better:h I want a cat back because i dont want to through any codes or anything like that just need a little more flow.
Thanks

5" sounds bad ass when its turbo back. you can hear that turbo scream when you get on it.
normal driving is not that bad.

Im going to straight pipe if from the cat back, i think, a few guys say i should trough any codes with the turbo back, but IDK how much louder is it over stock??

its definitely louser than stock. you can hear the turbo alot more. Especially the LBZ, since it adjusts the turbo vanes every so often. I believe the later LLY's do also. Hence, the occasional "Jet Engine" comment ):h

How heavy footed are you. If you drive normal, its not bad at all.
If your heavy you will definietly hear it, and if your laying into it pretty good, then you'll start hearing the turbo scream and its :headbang:

I heard a youtube video with a 5" a while back, I'll see if I can find the link.

i drive 5mph over the speed limit most of the time. i get on it on the highway and some straight aways. i try not to get crazzy, hard to belive for a 16 year old. lol

Def turbo back..... Leaving the cat in is weetodded.... I would know, I did it. :rolleyes5: Especially if you put in a box/tuner, it'll plug up on you. Mine breaks loose junk from the cat fairly often now.... Looks like sparks shooting out the pipe when they do.

I'd do a turbo back and buy EFI.... then you can set it up so the codes wont show as a CEL.

Haha yeah hard to believe as I wasnt like that at 16.
sounds like how I drive now though.
you should be good with turbo back.
when people are riding in my truck, they always comment when getting on the freeway, that is sounds like takeoff in a 747 ):h

will the edge chip clear any codes that would show up with a turbo back its a newer model bought late in 2007 for dads old 2006 LBZ.. if it does then i will get a turbo back..

I dont have any experience with the Edge chips. I dont think you'll get a EGR code unless you block it. even if Edge doesnt block EGR codes, a fingerstick is not that much.
I may have my old one around here somewhere.

I dont have any experience with edge, but from what I've seen, none of the box programmers will keep the CEL from resetting. You need a custom tuner, ie efi live or something similar.

True. I know some people who have pulled cat and still dont set any codes. As far as I know, even if the code is set, it wont hurt truck. Just sets CEL.

well i was looking at programers last night and I like the PPE hot+t it clears any codes and what not and has 10 tunes.. so if i get that i would probaly get the turbo back what do you all think???

what ever you do for power make sure you can constrain yourself with the power. a solid 90-100 hp tune is about all the allison will handle until a rebuild is affordable. not trying to scare you just giving fact. we all have been there so not to worry.:D the edge will clear codes, but they are just that. they set the light, but have no ill effect on the way it runs. my fathers will go off every week or so for the egr. he has no cat and 7" pipes on his.

it is easier to do it once:D

So your saying to get the PPE+2 and a turbo back and be done with it cause thats what im leaning towards and also we know all about what the allison can handle learned that the hard way!:mad2:

I run the PPE 6 level and had a hard time keeping at level 2. I kept wanting more. But the t/c slipping has slowed me down some. At least until I fall in to the $$ to build it.
Till then. It stays at level 2 (90hp). With the Trans Go Jr, it does very well.

I think im going with the ppe and 5" turbo back, i went and looked at the truck i will post what i think of it in the other post i made

That's a very good combo. (you can only make it better with the TransGo Jr.)
You wont be disappointed. Good luck!

Thanks and after that a banks converter or some other converter so i can turn the chip up more

Just checking Brandon, but you are aware that even though the PPE will clear a code once it has been set and the CEL comes on, it will not keep the light from coming on again. The fingerstick that some have mentioned, as well as EFI Live are used (can be used) to keep the ECM from realizing there is a problem. I'm only bringing this up because you may end up clearing that code on a regular basis that has to do with the oversize exhaust.

Thats interesting... I have the PPE with EGR blocked and never get any CEL's.
I remember hearing about only certain PPE models Disabling EGR CEL's. If I remember correctly it was the "Economy" one's that wont keep the light off. but the upper end models will. At least thats how mine works. If I remove the programmer and go back to stock. I will get a CEL, but as long as its tuned with the PPE, I never get a CEL.
Correct me if I am wrong. All PPE's can clear codes, but only those upper end ones can actually block the EGR code from setting the CEL.
