Max. Speed in 4wd?

I think you would need some sort of clutch to let any binding loose. On my dads JD if you run it down the road in 4wd you can see the wear on the front tires real quick.

Correct, you need some sort of slippage between the front and rear or it will bind(front tractor tires will do in a pinch!!). If it binds you need to stop and jack up one wheel and reverse rotate it until you can unlock the transfer. Real pain in the but if you forgot which is why all your new ones are auto because most people who buy 4x4s today arent smart enough to know better of know how to fix it when they left it in 4x4.:mad2:
