I know this has been discussed before but I know where there CUCV going up on auction. If luck has it's way I'll buy it. I have spare 6.5 ex manifolds from my 2000 , the s intake from my 95 and thanks to ATT there is an abundance of unwatned gm turbos for cheap. What exactly is involved in using a 6.5 turbo setup on a 6.2. From what I have read I gotta chuck the factory mech fuel pump(which I would do anyway, pure junk) and run the turbo drain to that hole ? where do you tap in for oil supply for the turbo ? The only other thing I'm not sure baout is the crossover and downpipe fitting old bodystyle but that can be worked out. I'll just gut the s intake. No need on this rag to buy an f. The nice thing about old bdy style it there looks to be plenty room for a nice intercooler. The old bodystyle has a much bigger rad too. This truck will be my replacemnt wood hauler/beater.

Yep, remove the fuel pump and use the 6.5 drainback plate. Manifolds all bolt on so no biggie there. For the turbo, just tee off the oil pressure switch or drill and tap a new galley if you really want to.

I posted up about fueling concerns on mine but no one has answsered, :(

Also what's the difference in the DB2 from 6.2 to 6.5 As far as I can tell it's the same IP. I know the spare one I sold from my 6.2 days was a db2-4911. How does the fuel delivery rate compare to the ds4. I know the ds4 can put a little more out.

Does tee-ing off the OPS provide enough oil and does it affect the accuracy of the oil press gauge ?

Haven't looked at my 6.2 block closely, but are there oil pressure ports above the oil filter boss? Easy tap if so....

If I get the truck it will make an interesting project. funny how a few of us are ending up with 6.2s as beaters. I wonder how hard it would be to separate the ecm and wiring to go with a ds4 and 4l80e / Probably eaiser to just use the 4l80e with a standalone. Truck has a th400 but only does 55 mph.

It's the simple fact that a gasoline engine has zero interenst to most of us here...

I've also contemplated 6.2 beater, even a ramp truck w/sander a few years back... My bro-inlaw bought a CUCV and fixed her up somewhat and tows his pop-up with it. Gets in the 20's MPG towing. He says plenty of power. Small trailer of course, but still. Bought it with 16k miles on it for like a grand.

Aces, if I'm not mistaken, the 6.2 uses the .290" plunger pump, and the 6.5 uses .310" plungers.

A pump with .290" plungers turned all the way up should fuel the turbo motor just fine. No, it will not make the fuel a DS4 does.

The 4911 has .310" plungers.

I'd love a military version of a K-5. :D There's a guy with one here, and it's got low mileage on it, but it's rotted in the same spots mine is. Saw a perfect K-5 the other day at the gas station, but it had a 305 in it. not a spec of rust on it.

I can't wait to find somewhere to try and get the Blazer stuck. Just have to de-ventilate the floors first. It's slowly coming together however. :smile5:

Aces no problem T'ing off the OPS port to run turbo. That's how Diesel Depot does their 6.2/6.5 hybrids. You will need to get a longer hose made up. IIRC I've got a 1/8npt close nipple in block then a 1/8NPT T with OPS in one port and turbo oil line in the other.

That was the only external hard difference between my new motor and my old 6.5. I did install a Diesel Pro IP.

Thanks. My next hairbrain scheme was, how hard would it be to use the 6.5 accesories and serp belt setup. My experience with 6.2s was they eat alt belts. Much speculation as to why but even the well know 5725 belt didn't last long. My thought was always that gates screwed everybody by discontinuing "8" series belts but that's 6.2 stuff. I believe the water pump is Cw on a 6.2 and CCW on a 6.5 but that shouldn't matter if I use everything right ?

That's kinda what I thought. You know it makes me wonder about something though and yeah I'm probly talkin out my a$$ but 6.2s are nearly impossible to overheat. aside from not having a turbo and less fuel I wonder if the direction of coolant flow has anyhting to do with it ? Ie: Doesn't the 6.2 flow oppostie the 6.5 ? I wonder what GPH the 6.2 v belt WP flows at. I've had a bug up my a$$ to 6.5 out a cucv for sometime. also the old bodystyle(old to us) has a way bigger rad and much better airflow so if I get to do what I want I wonder how it will compare ?

It wouldn't if you grabbed or used all the serp stuff. i want to do that on my van but its just too much work and the cost, wow, and installing a Fluiddamper fixed the belt issue on my van, you could see the difference after it was installed.

I just forgot the waterpump turns the other way on the serp setups, so you'll need a new clutch fan, fan and waterpump.
