Lower ball joint

Soak it with your potion, hit with the heat wrench, then the pickle fork and a BFH.

Not a fan of the BFH method and a pickle fork will not work for ball joint removal.

You'll be happy you did, with joints cooled down in freezer I used a 3/4" drive ratchet with ease......

The ball joint remover arrived today and was a bit surprised as to how large it is. Should be able to remove the leaf spring bushings with it as well, not liking the idea of using a torch etc. I found this video which prompted me to rob my mad money car truck account. When I installed rear shackles on the rear to lower it the bushings were flat and the time has come to either downsize and sell the truck or keep it.

You tube video for leaf spring bushing removal.

I had considered this press.

Pressing lower ball joint into sheet metal or forged control arms really need the proper J 41805 tool and the all joints should be placed int freezer for a few hours to make the job easier. This "J" is about 3 times the size of the OTC unit and the same as used by the shop at dealerships & is specific to the C/K series.
Ball joints for the sheet metal lower control arm is smaller than the ball joint for the lower forged control arm.

What is the equivalent to the J 23444-A high pressure lubricant that should be used for the ball joint remover.?

@FellowTraveler so the J 41805 will work on both the stamped and the forged arms?

I assume it works on 2wds also?

What other uses does it have on the GMT400 trucks?

Debating about getting one now. :)
Yes, 2wd too according to gm manual, as using it for other jobs I don't have the list of tools that work with the unit, however using pvc pipe of different diameters and lengths it could bushing remover installer for almost any sized bushings on the vehicle and limited to where it would fit or ones imagination on vehicle and off the vehicle even more things could be done like spring, frt/diff bushings it's a beast of a tool....

I researched and found Moly-Lit for the screw on the ball joint remover/installer and used it this morning and not to remove a ball joint. I used it to remove a leaf spring bushing, pushed the center section out like the video I posted earlier. So problem solved for me when the time comes to replace the leaf spring, LCA , UCA bushings and the ball joints....

After using the lubricant/anti-seize to keep the threads from galling, it was not even warm and I was expecting it to be hot, not the case. I'm going to use this lubricant/anti-seize on the strut compressor screw I purchased to remove the springs on the Wife's Honda to prevent the threads from galling.
