This happened to my Friends Truck the other Day.

33 x 12.5's on 15" Rims.

The Whole Tread came Off the Tire, did this to the Bed, Bent the Step Bar Down, Ripped Out the Tail Light, and Ripped the Door Mirror Off.

Check yours ASAP!!

Talks with BFG should allow them to pay for the damage. Guy next door went through his with another tire company that covered the damage.

And yet (KNOCK WOOD) here I am with a history of LONG mile BFG ATs repeatedly with only one flawed out of round tire of at least 6 sets in a row on 4 different HD GM trucks. Never a hint of trouble otherwise.

Probably because 5 of the 6 sets had the white letters out...:D

I've had both good and bad experiences with the BFG All Terrains. Had at least two with belt separation after taking a nail in the tread. Had one throw tread, though just partial and no damage. Also had a set go over 50K miles. They're damn expensive tires and they should have more consistent quality.

There isn't a tire maker out there that hasn't suffered the same issue at some point. It happens. I have been using BFG's for years with no issue's.
Maybe the tire was under inflated, was cut from something, damaged during mounting, many things can be wrong here.

Maybe from using an off-road specific tire on paved roads? All the lumping from the treads could have heated up the belts and separated them (rubber) from the cords?

I drove 4 tires down bald on my 98 K1500 (all on the front end) all with way too much positive camber, driving them very hard all the time, had 3 plugs in one tire and about one in each (i used to work in some hharsh places) and never had a separation.

I'm hoping for the best with the KM2's i have on my truck. i know a guy who works for the government (wildlife) who has a set on his Super duty work truck and he says they've lasted long and worked great.
